Some good advice here. Some irrelevant. Some miniscule. A worthwhile read nonetheless.

I usually use my stripped windows xp where mostly all that is already done.

However..
No11. - it should be checked.. so PC at transmitter site CAN restart if crash occure.
No17. - You need clock to be always accurate - so do not disable.

Also imporant thing is bios setup...
- Latest bios for motherboard..
- disabling USB ports
- Com/LPT ports (if not used)
- Not used lan adapters (if more then 1) - I actually prefer all off and use PCI Intel PRO Network adapters for transmitter site!)
- turning of unused sata/ide ports (you only need 1 for hdd/ssd) - Faster boot
- memory checking off
- show logo off
- turning off intel C1 stepping, eist or whatever name is on motherboard...

and that kind of stuff..

This read applies more to a prod machine but has good points for tweaking audio, but you sure don't want to disable number 11 .Thanks for catching that. A few years back when i ran some of the BW processors,dsp-x and extra, when power was lost the box would power back up but the processing would not start.Talk about a pain in the booty, had to drive to the xmtr site and do a hard boot on it.Not fun during a bad thunderstorm.Box was on UPS and 24/7 back up generator. Not sure what that issue was about, maybe PS related.I was told the box like 220v over 110v.
