Post subject: | Generate webstream and FM signal parallely |
Hi, we have currently the problem that we want to implement the following scenario and we fail doing so: our soundcard Marian Trace 8 gets the input signal and ST processes it for FM (FM output) and the webstream (its kind of ok if we can only use the same settings for both profiles). But how to get the webstream signal into the shoutcast/icecast server? The Trace 8 does neither support recording a playback channel, nor multiple clients if there is an ASIO client active on the card. Furthermore, the Winamp Plugin does neither support ASIO nor Low Latency Output. So what we would need is one of the following (until this is realized, we need to connect our sound processor machine to the stream machine via balanced analog cables ![]() a) ST learns the basics of shoutcast/icecast streaming and offers to send the audio to another server. b) ST learns to ignore the Winamp DSP input and learns ASIO support as well as an additional Low Latency output in the plugin version. Then Winamp could be used to transmit the Normal Output to the shoutcast/icecast server. (Would this work when it comes to clocking? Basically, there would be an artificial DSP input clock that would be only used to clock the normal output.) Or do you have other ideas? Kind regards, Alexander |

Is latency an issue? If not, the easiest solution is to run Stereo Tool as a Winamp plugin and use the line in plugin for Winamp input: http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/dev ... index.html Otherwise, you could use Virtual Audio Cable to wire the Normal Output into Winamp. This will probably cause some hiccups occasionally since the sample rates won't perfectly match. Setting a big buffer and tweaking the VAC settings to match the actual sample rates as closely as possible would solve this. Maybe someone else has another idea? |

Latency is an issue - that's why we need ASIO in the first place. Can ST talk to multiple sound cards at once - i.e. a VAC and the ASIO device?

Yes. The only thing is that there's no way to keep the two synchronized so at some point the buffer will 'starve' (this may take weeks if you make the buffer size to VAC big enough, but it will happen). |

Ah, did not realize that there is a None option in the ASIO channel override dropdown box that does what I want.Instead of starving, the buffer might also overrun, I guess. Depending whose clock is faster ![]() |

Yes but you really want to avoid that - it might interfere with the FM output. |
