Now I'm really glad that I released it as a beta :-)

Could you please check the following?
- Click on "Configure sound cards"
- Check if "Enable ASIO" is enabled. And if a valid ASIO sound card is listed in the box below that. Please try if disabling it fixes the problem.
- Are any of the bars displayed in this window RED? (They should be GREEN for ASIO or BLUE for non-ASIO).

If it works WITHOUT ASIO but not with ASIO, you could try if using a different sample rate (or another ASIO sound card, if you have multiple) helps. (That's probably not useful, but it helps me to figure out what's wrong).

Thanks,
Hans

For now I have updated the beta such that it doesn't automatically select an ASIO sound card if any exists. I don't know if that is what your problem was - but it seems very likely because ASIO support is the biggest change between 3.14 and 3.20.

Hello hans , it seem with update version of stereo tool beta ,it run correctly with my no asio card.

Now i can test with "asio for all" (http://www.asio4all.com/) if you want ?

No you don't have to check it with ASIO4All - just one question: Do you have any ASIO sound cards installed currently? (Please check the setting in the Configure Sound Cards window). ASIO was apparently detected and enabled by Stereo Tool, but possibly incorrectly.

(Note: ASIO4All might be useful if you want to achieve a lower latency.)

I upgraded to 3.20 to see if there were any issues for me. I DO have an ASIO sound card (X-fi Titanium Fatal1ty PRO) which is a PCI Express ASIO card running under Windows Vista x64. Now, my audio skips perpetually -- the application's playback progress bar does not progress substantially. One second of audio takes about ten seconds to play.

This phenomenon occurs with my sound card sample rate set at 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, and 96kHz (all available master sample rates). This also occurs whether or not Dolby Digital Live! is enabled or not, which encodes all multichannel audio into Dolby Digital for up to 5.1 playback through an audio receiver with a single TOSLINK or S/PDIF cable.

This occurs on both SAM and Winamp.

I have noticed no abnormal CPU usage - roughly 3% for any application using Stereo Tool. This occurs with any combination of CPU Usage/Performance settings.

Very strange, but I hope it's helpful...

SuperH: The plug-in versions so far don't yet support ASIO. So they should (should...) behave identically to the previous versions.

What you describe sounds like what you get when the buffer size is too small (say, less than 0.1 second). Could you try if increasing the buffer size fixes this problem?

Thanks!

Thank you!!!

I'm glad I could help a bit. Have you ever used a professional audio processing solution, such as the Orban DAB or HD* series processors, or the Omnia *FM series? It's very obvious that you have given us a lot of options to work with, and that surely you must have used *something*. ASIO is icing on the cake!
