Post subject: | [FIXED] Location of the Phase Rotator |
Phase rotator ST is located in the Limiting & Loudness module, which I understand is the final module of the processor. The function of a Phase Rotator is trying to symmetrize the signals are not and so avoid distortion and exploitation of the signal in the compressors, limiters or clippers. So, this process is normally placed at the beginning of the audio chain and not the end. I wish that the process moves to AGC module, where I can make better the effect, especially on vocals. On the other hand, I think the rotator phase, could become just a checkbox (Enable-Disable) with standard parameters and preconfigured. |

The AGC is RMS level based, so this won't make a difference. The Multiband bands are so small (in frequency content) that this will make little difference. But: Artifacts caused by phase rotation could be amplified by changing this. That's why it is where it is now. But when I have the new Multiband finished I'll check again where it should be (since I'm planning to make the Multiband section also RMS based, it should not make much difference though). |

ok, look forward to the new multiband. Anyway, which is not used to calculate the RMS value of the signal, but when signals are too asymmetrical might generate errors in the calculation of the gain necessary because a cycle is greater than another. |

True, but there's also a half-cosine-shaped window placed over it. And the effect of the error would be very small anyway (except for very low frequencies, but they are not affected by the phase rotator anyway). |

If the error is smaller, there should be no major problems. Thanks Hans. ![]() |

I think it's time to move this filter after the AGC ... ![]() |

I don't know how i didn't notice elier, in one track (i heard it so many times) make mega difference when phase rotator is before AGC.. and i found why. It's not AGC problem but compressors after AGC and MB - if used. That trumpet has ultra big phase and compressors react like crazy. So this filter really need to be atleast right after AGC. I can also offer in-between solution. Part from phase rotator (when rotations is at 0) after AGC and rest of phase rotator where is it now. That part makes way less artifact and also enough to fix those errors. |

I hope we hear this time Hans, I think now it should not be a problem moving it from place after the restructuring of the code. ![]() |
