Hello,

I'm using ST6.0 stand alone on a Intel E5500 2.8Ghz with 2Gb
With al FM options turned on the processor load in taskmanager
is about 10-15% on both core's.

Now we are trying ST6.2 on a Atom D525 1.8Ghz with 2Gb
With al FM options turned on again the processor load in taskmanager
is 80-100% on the first core (thread) and all other 3 core's stay on 5-10%
The sound is very bad and stops every few seconds.
The multi-core option in ST is on but I can't see any difference.....

I'm trying this because of what DJBuik wrote here:Breakaway on D525

Is the Atom just to slow for Stereo Tool? Are there any other options
to reduce the load without loosing quality?

Hey Zwetsbal (great name :D )

The multicore support in Stereo Tool is currently very limited. I have made some preparations in version 6.20, and I want to add much better support for it soon.

For now, the only thing you can do is try to reduce the CPU load by changing some settings, such as:

- Turn the declipper off! It takes a lot of CPU power.
- In Loudness, lower the 'strictness' slider. This has a big impact on the CPU usage - just don't set it too low.
- In Stereo Boost, turn 'Remove excessive reverb' off - this allows the Stereo Boost and Multiband filters to be combined.
- In the main window, lower the Quality slider.

If that still does not suffice, you'll need to start turning filters off. :-(


Things will get much better when I have time to add decent multicore support. Currently only the FM composite limiter ("FM Volume Overdrive") is processed on another core. (And the GUI of course).

(What's happening with your stream? It's pointing to a station that broadcasts in a language that sounds a bit like Spanish?)

Hey if you're going to broadcast on FM give me a sign - Berghem is not that far away so I might be able to tune in here :-)

PS: Just saw your posters... And that gave me an idea: I still have to decorate my new office, now I think I'll print out a bunch of posters like that and put them on the wall!

I've tried the options you've mentioned before. But I think that the processor is not capable at this moment.
I have to shut down a lot of options and the quality becomes to bad... :-(
Maybe when the multi-processor option is there we can use ST on this type of pc

It's an old link...
We're only web-casting now around Christmas. One time AT is costly enough.
The broadcasting part is for those who are willing to spend €2500,- ;-)

I've quickly checked the code, and I think I can convert the clipper (Loudness section) to use 2 cores in just a few hours. The declipper seems to be a bit more work. So I'll at least include dualcore support for the clipper in the next version (which I hope to finish in a few days).

Also it's about Intel Atom. From my test ST cannot even use full one core on Intel Atom.

Used Aplication is BA Live. BBP will also work but not 100% safe on DualCore Atoms

@Zwetsbal: Can you check how it performs now? I have a new version online that uses 2 cores and - due to that - runs about 38% faster on my system (that's with declipper enabled).
