Post subject:  Realtek HD Headphone Output

So, rather than through the process of finding a replacement for the Juli@, I recently set the output of a Lenovo ThinkCenter Mini computer to 192k and ran a 1/8" to BNC cable from the headphone output to the transmitter's composite input.

I've tested nothing, so-far, so tilt, S-N etc is unknown, but I'm getting good stereo separation, basic RDS, background is quiet, and after setting levels with a commercial modulation monitor, the sound is competitive with anything in my market.

It's maybe a quick and dirty way of getting composite to a transmitter... almost seems too easy.

Has anyone else tried this... and better, run any tests to compare with a formal sound card?

Depending on the actual Realtek chip fitted on ur mainboard, it can really be very good. I'm using the Realtek ALC5686 (see my post here viewtopic.php?t=34154&start=10). It outperforms the Behringer UMC 202HD for example.
