When using the console application binary with Windows XP SP3 there is an error possibly winsock related when the new build tools started in version 10.53.

The good news is the standalone Windows binary runs, but I do not see any stdin/stdout (pipe) options that are necessary to the broadcast prep toolchain I been using the last three years with version 9.92.

The DAW I use running Windows XP is an offline machine. (No need for members to make any upgrade remarks.)

While I may continue to run the 9.92 or 10.51 console version, it is worth mentioning seeing the downloads page still mentions Windows XP SP3 as a minimum requirement.

I think I remember why this is the case. The issue was RIST support in MicroMPX. RIST uses features that don't exist on XP. Because of that, to support XP we need to use RIST as a separate DLL, so we can just disable RIST if it refuses to load. If we build RIST as part of the binary itself, the whole binary wouldn't load.

The console version has MicroMPX support so people can use it to generate a MicroMPX stream directly from it. So here's the issue: If we support XP, the console version would have to be distributed with a separate DLL for RIST, so we couldn't offer it as a single binary download anymore (it would need an installer) and users would need to make sure that the search path for DLL's is set correctly when using it.

That puts a burden on anyone using it. With the *probably* very low number of people using it on XP (you're the only person to complain until now), that doesn't seem like a good idea.

Currently, only the 32 bit stand alone and DSP builds support XP (and hence have a separate RIST DLL), the others don't.

So I lean towards changing the minimum system configuration description on the download page.
