Hi all,

I need your help on this.

Situation:
Studio
Point to point IP connection
Transmitter

I would like to use linear audio in the entire production chain.

I would prefer to run Stereotool in the studio.
But with uMPX you cannot send lossless audio to a transmitter site. Now I saw at a radio station that they use software from Breakaway to transport the MPX output of their processor (not Stereotool) to the transmitter site. On the transmitter site there was also software from Breakaway to convert this FLAC(?) stream into MPX and connect it to the transmitter.

Is something like this also possible with Stereotool. How do you set this up?

Or do you recommend sending the program output of the studio linearly to the transmitter without processing and running Stereotool there?

Hello Mr Engineer

Do you have a specific reason to use linear audio to the TX?

I dont think even the most trained ear can hear the difference between a FM TX feed by uMPX at 576kpbs or linear audio
However if its a big concern you could:

* You could use FLAC streaming in stereo tool... FLAC is lossless so basically its linear audio once decoded.
Some TX have this streaming feature built in now.
* Buy some Dante Audio converters
* Use Livewire or wheatnet Windows audio driver
* Buy a set of Tieline or Digigram uMPX boxs - they both do uncompressed PCM or MPX over IP

The last option is probably your best for ease as you get RDS, Stereo in the 1 box
