Post subject:  DC Offset on one of the mic's
Hey guys,

I'm having an issue processing high DC offset which happens through one of the mic's in the studio in the radio I'm working in.
Because of the asymmetry, it procs the clipper causing hearable distortion in the preset I'm working on.

Do you have any tips how can I protect the whole preset from it? Is just more compression a solution to it?

OOOOOOhhhhh, okay, I found about Phase Rotation.

That seemed to fixed it like a charm? Oh wow.

How do I best set this up and what are the dangers of overdoing it?

DC offset is osmething else, That's asymmetry, common on some voices and bad mic processors.
To solve it, try Phase Rotator, and even better Phase Delay, but it will be applied to music too.

But best way would be to choose better mic, not using any EQ from console and/or elsewhere and no mic processors, so you don't need to use PhR and PD.

Yeah the rotation seemed to help with the worst of it, but it's still there. We're on Rode Broadcasters in the main studio I think, and the team likes to cut the lows aggressively to avoid too much bass, which later gets amped in the Orbans we use for FM signals.

I'll definitely take a look on the EQ when I get back to work, as I think we might be cutting even as much as 24dB/oct. Do you think reducing that slope will help?

Rode Broadcaster is good mic. If console is OK just don't use any mix filters and reset EQ on console.
But since you use Orban, it does not matter actually, it's probably non-phase-linear anyways.
