This is not HiFi…. I created this specifically for FM broadcast of pop, dance and rock music. By chance, I think it works pretty well on Jazz too. I have tried to provide a reasonable amount of density and loudness for comfortable background listening whilst maintaining a fairly good spectral balance cut to cut without sounding too crushed. To me the processing density is somewhere between BBCR1 and R2’s prime time output, not that I was trying to emulate the sound of the Optimod 8700i’s which I am not a great fan of. I didn’t bother with auto EQ as I feel that the MB’s seem to do a pretty good good job holding the spectral balance for the music genres it was developed for. I have tried to add a little LF punch giving some warmth making the sound more palatable on crappy portable radios whilst trying to keep the IMD to a minimum and hopefully not sounding too muddy on a decent HiFi. Please let me know what you think. Any suggestions for improvements gratefully received.

Not bad! it is loud... although some here would disagree Doesn't hit the main clipper much but is still dense the only thing I see bad is the bass clipper is over active |

Hi Dale Many thanks for your feedback. I agree, some may argue that this is not as loud as it could be but I didn't want to push the clipper any more as I feel this eats into any precious dynamics you have remaining. In terms of bass clipping I entirely agree with what you say, maybe I should back that off a little. Thanks again Jim. |
