Post subject: | Sound deteriorates when using MPX vs. TX stereo coder... |
Hi everyone, and apologies if this isn't the right place to post this. I've been running ST through our TX with a inbuilt stereo coder. The preset was nice and warm, a pleasure to listen to. Then I decided an upgrade to MPX might be the way to go to take full advantage of RDS. So, following the TX manufacturers recommendations, I bypassed the stereo coder, by direct wiring between the MPX input (where the stereo coder output was connected to) to an RCA input formally used as an input to the stereo coder. When I connected the PC's line out to the now mono RCA input of the TX, and activated stereo and RDS features in ST, RDS came up fine, but the sound was horrible. It sounds like fake stereo with heaps of artifacts. It's like it's really overly compressed and harsh to listen to. I've tried a variety of other presets and they all exhibit the same type of effect. I'm hoping someone else may have also had this problem, or someone may help to rectify this. Or even give suggestions where to look first? Thanks in advance. Baldrick |

Strange. A few questions that might help narrow the issue down: Given that you are no longer using a stereo output from ST into the stereocoder, are you sure it is now correctly wired for MPX? (Are you using one channel of the same soundcard?) What method did you use to set the deviation of the transmitter? Are you sure this is correctly set? What output setting is your soundcard set at? Is it a line out or headphone out? Edit: Looks like you've been working this out in another thread? Hope it is now resolved. |
