Post subject:  Making a cable for MPX...

I started by using a commonly bought 2m RCA (x2) to 3.5mm stereo jack plug lead, with only one RCA connected to the TX input, but I'm sure there's a better way?

I'm wondering if there would be any benefit in making a new cable better fit for purpose. Maybe a heavier grade of coax (RG58?), around 0.5m in length. Fit a mono 3.5mm jack on one end and an RCA connector on the other.

Maybe the quality of the cable and the short length might better carry the audio and RDS from the PC to the TX?

Is there a better way?

Cheers,
Baldrick

Do not use mono 3,5mm jack, it'll use both left and right channel from soundcard. You don't want to use both channels, only one. So yes, something like RG58 is ok, put RCA (if that is your MPX input on transmitter) and stereo 3,5mm by using one of 2 channels.

Thanks again Bojcha. You rock!

Would you have any idea if the quality of cable used for MPX to the TX might also have some bearing on this issue?...

I posted this in a sub forum, which I think in hindsight was the wrong one. But this is the issue I'm trying to overcome with a better quality of cable. Would this help, or where would I start looking for a resolve?

Cheers,
Baldrick

Something else you are doing wrong there, it's not cable.
Check all soundcard "Effects"/"Enhancements", turn them all OFF. Soundcard EQs, all off. Windows playback devices enhancements, disable, etc..

Checked and double checked. All off. No change in sound quality. :(

Are you sure you are using pure MPX input on transmitter? Maybe you are on SCA or something. Also Are L/R inputs fully disabled on transmitter?

Well, I don't quite know what I did, but it seems to be working fine now.

I removed the incoming power supply for the stereo coder in the TX and also changed the output card from WASAPI to kernal streaming.

There was nothing connected to the inbuilt stereo coder, just the power. Weird.

But yup, definitely much cleaner and clearer now.

Thanks gain for your help!
