Hans

v6.20b is working well I did have to as with v6.10 lower the latency to 2048 and now it works great on win7-64bit ultimate.

There was some crackling at 4096 which disappeared at 2048

Hans,
I would like to give 6.20 a try when you think it is ready. I run Windows 7 64 bit and WinAmp 5.601.

I cannot seem to find the download link to this version.

Thanks
Al

It is still a Beta version.
Normally people say that Beta versions are only for experienced users.
Beta also means that such versions might be instable (errors).
But in this case (Stereo Tool) and for private testing these considerations are more or less irrelevant.

@ mapleleaf

I have hesitated a little bit, but now it has become obvious, that the way you have named your latest two topics is inadequate.
Your topic naming ("ST 6.20" and "version 6.10" without any additional information !) leads to confusion, because these look too similiar to the official release or Beta topics created by Hans.
So that unexperienced (new !) forum users (like alschoen) are irrated to find the real official release/Beta topic !

Please, mapleleaf, in the future use a more complex topic naming scheme to avoid such confusion !

Maybe it is possible for you to change the topic names of "ST 6.20" and "version 6.10" !

Thank You !

Why do you guys keep creating new topics for each .xx beta release?
Its getting annoying to see a thread just end randomly, keep it the old way please. make a new thread for new x.00 releases but keep .xx releases in the same thread. Makes it easier, and stop the news section from filling up with new posts that can be condensed into one.

Beta ?
Sorry, but this is not true.
We do not have new topics for new betas.
It would be indeed inadequate based on the amount of beta versions.

I do not agree, because this would mean that such a topic (x.00) has more or less endless pages (hundreds !).
Remember the topic created for the 6.00 release version that led finally to the 6.10 release (this topic has 72 pages !!!).
Or the topic "Stereo Tool 5.02" contains 99 pages !
Now imagine how many pages you would get in one topic including .xx releases ( hundreds !!!) !

So IMO the way it is now, it is still the best compromise.

Everybody that starts a new topic should try to create a topic name that makes it obvious what the topic is about.
But IMO this is a minor problem in this forum (in contrast to many other forums where you very often find topics like "Help me" or "I have a problem", etc.).

The major problem in this forum at the moment is this goddamn amount of spambot topics.

Sorryyyy, I didn't realize this thread was created for reasons that didn't connect to a new beta release.
Either way maybe a section for beta releases should be created, so that betas are in their own section.

You're right michi the accumulation of posts on a full release thread would be high, I don't mind but I realize others would. :\ EVERYONE SHOULD BE THE SAMEEE .. jk xD

I would agree that releases vs betas should be seperate topics. I am an IT developer as well as a beta tester for several Microsoft products as well as a couple of other vendors. My laptop always has all sorts of applications running or available.

I know that I am new to the forum, but I would like to have the choice of installing a beta. I might be able to contribute an already outstanding product.

Thanks.

The beta version of 6.20 is peforming outstandingly well on Windows 7 64-bit. I do not use ST as preprocessor for an AM or FM transmitter, but I do use it power high quality audio equipment.

The quality, as expected is fantastic over a very wide range of type of music.

I also worked with the 2048 and 4096 Latency setting. To the ear, there is no difference that I can detect so far. So I set the value back to 4096 and will keep the earlier problems in mind.

I should also mention, because I have the processor power, I also have the Quality slider set to HIGH.
