Hi folks! I have created a preset over the last couple of weeks which should replicate the sound of some german radio stations in the early 2000s. I listened to a few recordings from the years 2000 - 2005, from some popular German radio stations (SWR3, NDR2, 1LIVE, MDR Jump). As I know from certain forums, they used an Optimod 8200/8300 often in combination with an Orban 222a stereo enhancer or a Stereomaxx. I like this open, powerful bass-driven sound. I hope you like the preset! If you want you can maybe give me a few tips for improvement. And sorry for my bad english ![]() Update 23.07. : I made a few small changes (Old 3-Band AGC, Natural Dynamics, Auto-EQ)

Decent bass, definitely exhibits the characteristic slower AGC timings of an Optimod. I can't find any official Orban literature that states crossover/center frequencies. Though if I am to believe Alessandro Tomassini (developer of SoundSolution XAP) the center frequencies of an Optimod 8200 should be 170, 1000, 3200, 7200, 12000. The center frequencies you are currently using put the crossovers incredibly close to that of a CRL Systems DP-100. Also I'd take about 3-4dB off the 2-6kHz range (MB1 band 4), it's really shrill. |

Thanks for the feedback! I always thought that Band 1 would be around 100 Hz ![]() With your settings it definitely sounds better! Thanks!

Hi folks! I have improved my preset a little bit, it now sounds a bit softer (less compression) I think it is almost impossible to get the 100% 8200 sound because the clipper and limiter part in stereo tool is completely different from the Orban 8200 (I think the overshoots sound much better with the 8200). Here is a video of the 8282 by Jeroen Platenkamp : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8Fv-D6sF4M In my opinion this 8282 sounds fantastic! ![]()

Hi, there. No idea why I started playing with your initial preset. Anyway, here's my modification. Feel free to share any feedback.

Nice preset, great job! ![]() I made some changes to your preset. A more "French" take on it. Not for everyone. |
