Post subject: | Baires' Radio 2.1 (Updated 12/15/10) |
Please give suggestions, comments, etc. so version 2.0 can sound better. I can't be the only one who likes this sound. Negative and/or positive feedback are welcome. CHANGES IN 2.0 - Took hvz advice and lowered final limiter to 0.50 and loudness to 2.00 to eliminate distortion. - Fixed excessive bass pumping. CHANGES IN 2.1 - Went back to 1.00 Final Limiter and 1.00 Loudness because taking hvz's advice changes the sound signature that I liked so much. Until this is "sound change" issue is fixed in a later version of ST, the old way (with some distortion) remains. Post subject: | Re: My New Preset |
Sorry, your preset has no name and you give no information what the purpose of this preset is. Broadcasting ? Web or FM ? Or at home ? Sound characteristic ? ..... ? The only information here: You have created a new preset (and you like it). This is nonsense. You are here to share it, or what ? Then you have to use a name for the preset and give a mininum information what this preset is good for. If you don't have the perfect name for it now, you can always change it later. But without a name (and any information) it is nonsense to share it here and now ! Don't be so fuckin' lazy ! |

Come on guys I need some feedback. Gtxx? hvz? Anyone? I haven't found one song that sounds "bad" (to me of course) with this preset and I've tried it with Hip-Hop, R&B, Dance/Electronic, Bachata, and Salsa music. |

Hey garfield,![]() Do you mean that there is TOO much bass? Should I do less bass "pumping"? Originally I had less but some songs did not sound good because they had little bass and many highs so the bass was lost. Let me know if this is what you meant. Thanks ![]() |

Post subject: | Re: Baires' Radio 1.0 |
@ baires0314 Is this the same (or any change) as your noname preset ? Or have changed some settings before you named it Baires' Radio 1.0 ? Your noname preset was not good IMO, sorry. Too much highs and without any bass. I hope this is different. I cannot try your preset now, because I am not at home (without Stereo Tool). General hint (to create better presets): It is a known phenomenon that some presets sounds good with some desktop speakers (systems), though they are not good. So the best strategy to avoid a one-trick pony preset is to use as many different speaker systems (of your family and/or friends) and headphones (!) and compare it with high quality CD productions as reference (! - difficult in these days of loudness war). |

Yes this IS changed from the original no-name preset. I fixed the bass issue, that was one of the problems I noticed as well. The speakers I have are $1,000 with subwoofers that hit down to 30hz and they are top quality speakers that reproduce sparkly highs and deep lows and perfect mids. Thanks for the advice. Give this new one a try though and see if you like it better especially since the bass issue is fixed. |

Post subject: | Re: Baires' Radio 1.0 |
I'm not sure if I love or hate this preset. I love the highs (I love highs anyway...), and when I switch from this one to some built-in user presets they don't sound good when coming from this one. Still, this one has some horrible artifacts (heavy pumping, and sometimes distortion). I turned Loudness on to get rid of the distortion, but that didn't work! Then I lowered the Final Limiter volume slider to 50% and increased Loudness to 2.00 -> this SHOULD give the same end result but it clearly doesn't, distortion is gone. I've added this bug to my TODO list. For now, to make his one sound better (get rid of distortion): - Final Limiter volume at 50% - Loudness at x2.00 But now I still don't know if I like this one. ![]() |
