When I start up Stereo Tool It locks up into a feedback loop that gets louder and louder. I have no headphones or microphone hooked up and all other recording sources are muted. When I uncheck "Stereo Mix" on my recording control panel the feedback commences. What am I missing? |

You should make sure that in the mixer the OUTPUT is not sampled again.Stereo Tool does this: Sound card input --> Stereo Tool --> Sound card output So if in the sound card settings the output is sampled (which can be useful for example to record audio that you're playing in another player), you'll get a feedback loop. By the way: If you just want to listen to processed audio in an MP3 player, you need a plugin version instead of the stand alone version... |

I have this same problem. I've found what I like with ST sound-wise so I'd like to apply to it all sounds on my PC. What mixer? I have the "configure audio" button on ST but nothing on there says anything about a mixer? Or am I missing it? Please help! I understand the concept Soundcard>ST>Soundcard perfectly well there is just some setting that's wrong somewhere. Here's my settings, what do I change? ![]() |

You have the Realtek AC97 Audio Card set as your input and output. So your feeding the output of your sound card back into the input of the same card. That is why you have a feedback loop. We can help you better if we know what you are using ST for. |

To process the input sound going into my soundcard and process it just like i do in Winamp with ST DSP. It's the same idea of what I want to do except with all other sounds. |

I think you would need a second audio card or virtual audio card like VAC to do that. |

Ahhh I see! Thank you. I will look into VAC later and get back to you. That makes sense. I did not understand how it could input and output from the same card plus process. Well now I understand thanks. |

You can find out more about VAC here http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm |

Yes, to process all the sounds on your PC you'll need VAC - or a sound card which has a driver that already supports this functionality (which is the case for all the ESI sound cards). |

Yes I use VAC now. There's a 1 second delay for the processing but it sounds perfect. Thanks. |
