Hey Hey! Just dropped by to ask Hans about adding the additional news/traffic option '' EON ''. There are several Romanian and one Serbian stations here, that have this option in their RDS, It just Flashes on People's radio receivers, just like the '' TP '' I doubt the EON function is used here for something different then just sitting on people's displays
Is it possible to be added to the RDS settings in future ST Versions?

edit: One more Q i have in mind: the PTY - is it possible to make a field below the default PTYs, for us to write our own PTY instead of the default ones? Or its impossible, because of the limited RDS capabilities? Cheers

I checked the RDS specification, but this EON does a lot more. Basically, with EON, a station that does not transmit traffic information points to another station that does, and when the traffic info starts, the station that points to the other station must broadcast an EON frame with TP/TA info. Then the receiver knows that it must (if this is configured) switch to the other station, until that station's TA flag is cleared.

This could be made, but it's not simple, and it also requires some sort of synchronization mechanism with the other station that does transmit traffic announcements.
No, the PTY is transmitted as a number between 0 and 31. And the setting may have an effect on the behavior of receivers - for example, on some receivers you can automatically search for music, or for news broadcasts.
