Post subject:  Songs over the RDS..

Hey guys, earlyer today I tuned to a local radio station wich shows the artist - song title on the RDS, so i am just curious is this possible to be made with stereo tool in a later version to send the artst - track, or just the song title from winamp to the RDS panel somehow, would be really great =)
(Just a Suggestion)

That should already be possible...

(Oops - I removed the explaination of it from the Stereo Tool window and I haven't described it in the help pages either... Bad me! (AU! hitting myself...)

In Stereo Tool, you can include a text file from the hard disk in the RDS signal.

All you need is a way to refresh the text file when a new song starts. In Winamp, there are several generic plug-ins that can do this. For other programs, check if the program has an option to write this data to a file...

Say the data is written to C:\currentsong.txt . Then place \R"C:\currentsong.txt" in your RDS string to add the text to the RDS signal (\R includes a file and converts the text to capitals. \r does the same without converting to capitals. \F and \f do the same, but the included text is interpreted as an RDS formatting string, so it may contain / < > etc. to control scrolling, display speed etc.)

Example: <NOW PLAYING \F"C:\currentsong.txt" ON HALFDEAD-FM

NOTE: When trying this out I noticed that some thing don't work exactly as they should. I'll look into that. For now, just use scrolling (<) to show the entire title.

Correction: It does work, I forgot the interface myself.

If you use || instead of < , every word will be shown separately.

So:

||NOW PLAYING \F"C:\currentsong.txt" ON HALFDEAD FM

If you want a very neat display: Separate words, but if a word does not fit it scrolls, and the start and end of the scrolling is displayed for a longer time, try:

||<2s,1=1.5s,2..-2=2t,-1=1.5s:NOW PLAYING \F"C:\currentsong.txt" ON HALFDEAD-FM

(2s = time for a word that fits, 1.5s and 1.5s for 1 and -1 are first and last part of scrolling, 2..-2=2t makes the texts during scrolling stay on screen for 2 iterations (minimum necessary for proper reception).

By the way, I just read this post: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=25 which mentions that you can use scripting in SAM. So that would probably be the easiest way to extract the song name if you are using SAM.

One that should work is Now Playing plug-in (gen_NowPlaying.dll)

I'm not sure if the output format is what you would want though. There might be some where you can configure the output format, which would be better.

AMIP has a configurable output format:

Also seems more stable.
