Yes. |

Quote: Simple or Basic, referred to control the speed (which influences Attack, Hold and Release), Energy or Density (Thresholds, Knee, Peak / RMS Ratio), Mix (Band Mix)
You mean all these settings per band, or a single "Density" setting? There's already - even in Simple mode - the Drive and Output level, which I think should be enough for that (because: How would a Density slider affect Knee for example. And Threshold is basically linked to Drive, so that's already ok. Although using a very different drive level might cause big issues if the ratios for bands are different. Grrrr... ![]() Advance, should be like the Simple or Basic, adding some control to allow some fine adjustments.[/quote] In my current version (will post it in a moment) Advanced mode adds burst protection and frequency/slope settings. |

BETA060: Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 04-060.exe Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 04-060.exe VST: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 04-060.dll DONE: - Extra LPF before MB, stereo and AGC. Never below 16 kHz, set 0.25 kHz above actual LPF freq to avoid too steep filtering. - Multiband compressor: Make frequencies non-editable (view only) in all but Bands section - Started with: Multiband compressor: Differentiate between Basic/Advanced/Extreme... modes TODO: - Crash reported by Christian Steifen: If you change to a different category and quickly change something it crashes (VST version). Unable to reproduce, waiting for feedback - was this with BETA054? - Multiband compressor: Differentiate between Basic/Advanced/Extreme... modes - Singleband Compressor: Differentiate between Basic/Advanced/Extreme... modes - Compressors: Density slider, to be used instead of Drive in simple mode. - Compressors: Replace 'Speedup' by 2 sliders: Aggression and Softness. - Update "main" processing window - Update/Order presets - Change version number - Release |

Ok, here's an idea. Since changing the Drive can cause big changes in the sound if bands are configured differently (different ratios's, feedback vs feed forward), it's probably not a good idea to put the Drive in the simple interface - in some cases you can really break things with it. But: I can make a new slider, let's call it 'Density', with which you can increase or decrease the drive. If you do that, the 'band mix' values would be adjusted as follows: Say, a band has a ratio 3:1, and works in feed forward mode. Then, if I increase the 'Density' by 6 dB, the band mix of this band would need to be reduced by 2 dB. For feedback things are a bit more difficult but I guess I should be able to come up with something usable. This change also means that I can remove the 'Output level' slider from the simple interface, which would be great (I really don't like that one). Also, PhantomFM just mentioned that it's probably a good idea to leave the attack times alone when changing the Speed slider, and that seems to make sense - I'll change that. In fact, I should probably also place a separate attack speed in the simple interface to allow making the sound 'softer'. |

To detect inter-sample peaks you mean? Or to avoid distortion? (I don't think it would help to avoid distortion btw.)
Hmm... I'm not specialist, but I can prepare some signals which can't to be correct measure without oversampling ![]() ![]() |

Feed forward is working, and this is indeed very handy. Now I need to think of a way to do the same thing for feedback.
Say, a band has a ratio 3:1, and works in feed forward mode. Then, if I increase the 'Density' by 6 dB, the band mix of this band would need to be reduced by 2 dB. For feedback things are a bit more difficult but I guess I should be able to come up with something usable. |
