Event timing in windows is HORRIBLE, period, because it uses a queue and most things that are queued don't care at all about maintaining any consistency in (or in many cases even minimizing) the delay they add.![]() Quote: I don't do FM broadcasting, so "the listeners" = me. Ahh, so the actual signal level wouldn't matter at all then. So, is the output of Stereo Tool without "Loudness" not providing a consistent subjective loudness between tracks? Or you like how it sounds with much of the peaks/detail removed? Or some other technical reason you are required to peak limit? Or some other reason?

Or some other reason?I'll try changing things up and going without Loudness. Bear in mind that unlike most, my settings in MB are for compression, not limiting. You might listen to the preset I made (Supersonic). It's similar to stuff that Bojcha does, but with the latest changes I made, I'm getting more sustain in the low-end for rap/hip-hop/rnb and crisper percussion overall... I only post the presets because I guess I fancy myself somewhat decent at this. I might actually suck horribly though... Singing in the shower effect, or something like that... ![]() |

The preset I'm working on is 100% compression, because it's more consistent. ![]() Quote: You might listen to the preset I made (Supersonic). I'll have to hunt that down then. I only post the presets because I guess I fancy myself somewhat decent at this. I might actually suck horribly though... Singing in the shower effect, or something like that... ![]() ![]() |

@ Brian.. I listened your preset and it's good .. maybe too much highs for my taste and just a bit lack of lows (probably just better eq boost) ...sound open, but in same time you busted mids and mid-lows ..can be fixed...But... Facts are that you are only listener and you have no cpu power... i recommend you to NOT use Loudness filter but Final Limiter! Reasons: - You don't need to compete with anyone in loudness war, - From first one, Louder will NEVER be better quality! in ANY processor! - Final Limiter have, about 5 times, more quality! but of course less loud - Final Limiter is Limiter (You need limiter, you already have compressor/s in MB, since Loudness have some compressing component) - Less cpu usage .. etc When you make preset .. watch that you have as much as possible constant sound from all filters independent. Mains are, AGC, MB and Limiter. So, all together (with small and gentle tweaks) should still bring very constant sound. |

I'm desperately waiting for this.![]() I hope it happens before the release of new Breakaway with Passive Aggressor preset and before we (all members living in countries of the European Union) get our money back from camclone's Greece ! ![]() Consistency !? Anybody tried my IO 2.3.16K preset ? I know I am using very strange (sick ?) settings for AGC (-12 dB RMS) and an extreme combination of Noise Gate and perverse Multiband plus Loudness at x1.01 (as a little joke). But for me it is the most consistent preset (especially playing music from 1950 - 2011). Any thoughts ? |

Edit: BTW, you haven't listened to the latest version, as nobody has downloaded it yet. Unless you grabbed the test version, then you don't have the primary bass enhancements. I made a further change after the test version, with increased up speed in the 170 and 580Hz bands, so that would also address mid-low/low-mid.I listened your preset and it's good .. maybe too much highs for my taste and just a bit lack of lows (probably just better eq boost) ...sound open, but in same time you busted mids and mid-lows ..can be fixed...But... Hans suggested otherwise some time ago, or at least I thought he did, stating that the Final Limiter could not handle something-something-blah-blah. Yeah, I kinda glazed over. Prior to what was mentioned just a couple of days ago, I did not know that loudness was introducing additional compression. Reasons: - You don't need to compete with anyone in loudness war, - From first one, Louder will NEVER be better quality! in ANY processor! - Final Limiter have, about 5 times, more quality! but of course less loud - Final Limiter is Limiter (You need limiter, you already have compressor/s in MB, since Loudness have some compressing component) - Less cpu usage .. etc As I've said elsewhere, I've had quite a past few months, and a very stressful past 10 days. This, as well as a few other things, is helping pass the time, although when you feel like you're constantly sick to your stomach, all you want to do is crawl in bed... ![]() |

Final Limiter cannot handle loud sounds. Due to this, Loudness should almost always sound better when you're aiming at the same (loud) output level. But, if you don't need loud output, and only need to get rid of some spikes that remain after the rest of the processing, there's really no need to use Loudness and you can use Final Limiter instead - all the 'Generic preset' presets do this too. The CPU load is a lot lower. Just make sure not to send in the audio at a too high level. I hope to be able to get rid of the big difference between the two when I redesign the clipper. @Brian: Hope you get well soon! |

For now, it sounds better to me with loudness, but I haven't tried changing AGC and MB to try to get a similar sound yet. I might do that whenever you can get ND less demanding.I hope to be able to get rid of the big difference between the two when I redesign the clipper. Quote:

Thanks... It will be a long time though... It's physical stuff being driven by emotional...

@Brian: I wish you strength to come to terms with your loss. @Hans: With techno music i get very strange effects with the de-clipper enabled. Mostly because the clipped part is intentionally. Do you think this can be fixed, or is it best to just turn de-clipper off when playing techno or similar intentionally distorted songs? |
