Hans , What do You mean more constant ... My "constant" level means constant between the bands ( or constant and more balanced between lows mids highs ) .Because when we have very loud peak in one of the bands it will lower the whole band which will cause lowering the other frequencies of the band that is unwanted . Right ? Imagine that people not using the clipper ? and use fast speeds for UP and DOWN . This is what i think . More bands more precise of balancing the sound (mean again balancing of whole sound between 30 hz and 15 Khz) Why people prefers more bands of equalizer ....? This is the same thing .Excuse me if i`m wrong , but i think i`m not. |

Well, yes and no. Yes, it causes drops of a wider frequency range. The problem though is that dropping a small (not wide) portion of the spectrum quickly gives a distortion-like feeling to the sound. That's why in Stereo Tool you cannot really let the multiband section do a lot without sounding bad. Compare that to the *huge* range that the AGC provides - which uses only 1 band. Of course, response speeds are also very important for this - but that's not the only reason why the AGC is so much better. |

I`m a fan of little or low speeds of the MB . I`ll upload settings which i want to test and imagine that MB have a gating level and may be target level . Do You think that this will be unbeatable by no one (hardware or software) ? If gating was fact ...with this settings i`m ready to fight for the price of planet for best settings of ST ![]() P.S: You have transmitter where to test Fm settings right ?

Quote: - Bass Boost: Hm.... Is this still useful with the new bass shaping mechanism in Loudness?
In my opinion it should remain, not the view of the rest. ![]() |

In my opinion it should remain, not the view of the rest. ![]() You may need to see some combination of fit to do so, I invite you to try my last preset, to verify if you notice this effect. (download/file.php?id=489) |

Good question about "bass boost"! With new "bass shaping" first what i would say is "not needed" also Deep Bass Boost not needed! All needed amount of lower bands should came out from mb. However, i don't like how bass shape works at 4096, and in same time totally different and much better responce from "bass shape is at 2048sample (any value)! In same time "deep bass boost" is not good with 2048 samples ![]() |

Ok, making a few small changes: - Improved Loudness Distortion Protection and Deep Bass Protection are now turned OFF by default. - Strictness in Loudness is now set to -4 by default. Reason: I measured the difference in output level with Loudness followed by Hard Limit, and the difference is only 0.01 dB. This lowers the CPU load a bit. - Also found that I could clip the midbass sounds less strictly without much impact (strict clipping is only needed for bass due to IMD, but I was also doing it for mid-bass freqs). About Improved Loudness Distortion Protection and Deep Bass Protection: I'm not sure if I should remove them completely. If at some point the artifacts are solved, they might be useful again. And Deep Bass Boost might also be somewhat useful. |

@Bojcha: Tested sweep at different volume levels. Bass shape settings at 0.20/160 Hz for 2048, 0.50/160 Hz for 4096. Output is nearly identical regardless of level, and the RMS level of the result is less than 0.05 dB different. 4096 gives a cleaner signal (less "wobbeling"). I did see one strange thing though: The sample also contained a second with a DC offset, and at 4096 I see that there's a drop at the start and end of this, at 2048 the drop is only visible at the end and it's much smaller. This is not caused by mid/highs sensitivity since I set all bass clipping sliders to 50%. So there is something else happening... Edit: - DC holes are caused by asymetrical bass reduction - this has no impact on normal bass sounds so I can ignore it. - I've just processed DBN - Jack is Back @ 2048 (.20/160) and 4096 (.50/160), can't hear any difference, the waveforms look very similar and the frequency analysis also doesn't show any big differences. RMS level differs by only 0.02 dB. All this is without using 'sensitivity'! |
