Thank you Hans for the re-activation of the lowest noise gate band ! Before the Beta-8 I have used the Beta-3. A question about the new lossy compression output optimization: After the pre-emphasis is applied the de-emphasis is applied too for this non-FM encoding output (for FM in contrary the de-emphasis is applied inside the FM receiver) ? Or is this a misconception ? |

@ Bojcha It's Gettin' Better (Man!!) ! ![]() But still a few miles to go before we reach the Oasis (or audio nirvana ![]() Interesting: High frequency is less aggressive (better for listening on higher volumes). The whole frequency signature is much closer to HiFi standards. Very good that you use the singleband compressor/limiter. This brings more vividness. Switch it off and you hear the difference (somehow flat and cold without it). So for a special range of music (a playlist limited to one genre) it is already a good choice to reach consistency. Problems only occur when you use tracks from very different genres and production dates. For example Lady Gaga followed by Leonard Cohen stuff (like I do in my playlists). Though I think this is not realistic for 99.99 percent of all radio stations. Quote: just load in latest winamp_dsp beta Beta 8 ?I ask, because Hans has not linked these Betas 8 here (don't know why ?). Latest links here lead to Beta 7. Quote: Ok, in the latest BETA link (Stereo Tool 5.02 thread) replace '510-7' by '510-8' and you'll have band 1 back.

Great.. As you see, i am using totally different approach for settings. Goal was to be more open for lows compressed for mids and little open for highs, more punch, more dynamic ... With AGC EQ things are much better ... When Hans decide to implement that eq i'll adapt this preset and should be better. (i hope) |

Latest version: Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... A510-9.exe Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... A510-9.exe VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... A510-9.dll VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... A510-9.dll Command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... A510-9.exe Linux command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... _BETA510-9 Changes: - BETA8: Re-enabled noise gate band 1 (with slower settings to reduce artifacts) - BETA9: Fixed VST plugin bugs, VST plugin now works in mAirList (before it wasn't possible to do anything in the Stereo Tool window) What remains for version 5.10: 1. Disable separate pre-emphasis and relaxed clipping when FM processing is enabled. It's currently too confusing. ■ DONE 2. Remove remaining spikes -> behavior is incorrect, it should partially maintain spikes that are really big (= difficult to get rid of). 3. Fix settings in presets to closer match modern CD sound (less highs etc.), using the Median display. 3a. Also fix the singleband behavior (AGC style on/off). ■ DONE, default is OFF again, built-in presets with Loudness get ON 4. Check the new presets (I only just noticed Bojcha's post, will try to check it tomorrow). 5. Check and add good new presets (also in the 'share your settings' forum). 6. Release 5.10 |

I will do that - but after I've released version 5.10. (Otherwise it will never get finished... Just have to release something once in a while)
When Hans decide to implement that eq i'll adapt this preset and should be better. (i hope) |
