What ? ... instead of "hard limit" ????
Nooo , no way .
Hard limit is doin his job very well . And another thing .. For what the hell is this over 100% modulation . New laws in FM modulation we make ... ? Again NOOO . Laws are laws , don`t forget the receiver . For transmitter there is no any problem to make 1000% deviation , But receiver is made for +-75kHz deviation , which means 100% of deviation .... Above is dead ! Guys who want more than 100% , don`t forget it !

And let me tell ya , I test ST for a long time ago and no predeviation yet .no hicups , no clicks , no anything ... just what I ever dream . Come and see other stations if You don`t believe me.Use expensive Stereo generators with all kind of sound processing .....and...... ST beat it all.

Think of it as 2 identical signals 180 degrees out of phaze. The total sum combined is 0.
It is these 'tricks' that can be used.

btw, how's your processor _ ?

hi HVZ,

the natural dynamics is very good !

I'm testing the sound by default

6.20 Beta 73
preset FM Transmitter Extreme Europe
Declipper ON
Naturals dynamics ON

all parameters by default

it's very Good sound like a big radio !

The naturals dynamics must include in ST 6.20 !! Very very good sound for a Fm radio

Well if I only had time (and more programing skills, mine date from the beginning of the 90's). It's been untouched since months.
There are periods when I am tired of listening to music (yes you've read that right) and that doesn't really help when you develop a processor.
I think that Hans will agree that sometimes you have to stop for a while.

I was in the mood again 2 weeks ago during a party when listening to some good music that was played there. Unfortunately my last famous words were 'I am not drunk' and that was the last thing I remembered. :D The rest of the week I had to recuperate. (who placed that sinus generator in my head?)

Ok, lots of posts again since the last time I checked... Some replies:

@Bojcha: The current clipper is doing some things that it shouldn't. Most importantly I think I have to completely get rid of the Clean/Punch filter, and make sure that the punch is maintained using other methods. The Clean/Punch filter - when not set to Clean - causes the Loudness filter to behave partly as a compressor, which is bad, and it makes artifacts such as voice vibrations, damaged 'S' sounds and volume drops caused by loud highs much worse. I have some new ideas which I'll test soon. But first I need to finish the declipper.

@Bojcha again: Omnia 9 can only reach 140% under certain circumstances (loud highs are needed, and my guess is that a big stereo separation in the highs helps). If the signal is MONO, but you're broadcasting in stereo, theoretically you just cannot get higher than 100% + pilot strength + RDS strength. (The demodulated signal IS the whole signal minus the pilot and RDS signals). Of course pure mono sound is pretty rare. But someone asked and I'm pretty sure that this is the answer.

@VFR750A45: I'm actually not too happy about the current Natural Dynamics filter. It still needs a lot of work: It works well in many cases, but it can also introduce quite horrible artifacts. On top of that the CPU usage is insanely high. I'm not even sure if I should include it in version 6.20 or just release a version with the declipper and then create a proper Natural Dynamics filter in the next version of Stereo Tool.

@Hans, when you're gonna work on this clippers, will you also look at the stokkemasker? Right now stereo tool is not stokkemasker proof which is required here in the Netherlands. You can read about Leif's implementation here: http://www.radioforum.nl/viewtopic.php?p=257729

@eldoradofm: Stokkemasker has been on my todo list for ages... But only since the Freakday I know what to do to stay inside it - I'll try to include it in my clipper redesign.
