Hans - regarding Stokkemask - true peak precision to 5 and is OK then. Strictness to 3 didn't affect it much. Peak precision however did. Also - on some presets and some audio content this newly optimized clipper can generate rubbish (as mpex2006km says). For example in the famous Kelly Clarkson track or in some Enya (Orinocco Flow, at 2:00 minutes). http://www17.zippyshare.com/v/vilGhMrB/file.html like here |

Ok I tried this track (Kelly Clarkson) and I don't hear that effect here - it's very clear in your recording though. Can you send me your settings?

Quote: Bug found. Old highs gap protection is completely broken. And even with the new one i think that i get more distortion and/or hissing highs. Does someone else has the same problem ?
Highs Gap Protection issue is fixed now. I received a settings file from Slawomir to reproduce the highs issue; will check that now.

Ok, cause is known: If you set 'True Peak Precision' to the maximum the effect is gone. (Please check if that's correct, I still don't get anywhere near the same amount of crackle as in the recording posted by Slavomir). I also know what's causing it, and I have an idea about how to fix it - but it will increase the CPU load.... ![]() |

It was recorded with beta 006 (or not?) - maybe that's why. I will try to reproduce it ![]() |

Hm.. The issue I think was causing it wasn't there until 007. I'll wait what you find...

http://www87.zippyshare.com/v/cR2RMRtW/file.html http://www87.zippyshare.com/v/hSwU6ZMY/file.html Well in 007 it sounds like this. Currently now I'm in a very noisy environment with lots of fans on (it's hot), so it might not be as severe as it was. Nonetheless I can hear it. I can compare it with the beta 006. Beta 006: http://www35.zippyshare.com/v/deH7NPPo/file.html http://www35.zippyshare.com/v/JPZO40py/file.html More-less the same, maybe a bit worse in Enya track. Actually this distortion sounds very much like a composite clipper in Optimod 8400/500/600 series or Omnia 6 (at least similar to some nasty samples I have somewhere). The settings are not mine, so that's why I don't want to make them public here. |

The big question is: How does it compare with the old clipper method and old highs protection method. Because step 1 now is to find the cause of the change, if there is one (and I think there is - this just sounds too awful). I also can't really test things properly now but I will try to do it tomorrow. Anyway, if you have any feedback before then, please let me know. |

@Slawomir Check v7.70 you'll see it's ~same. Since that is my settings, it's about how i adjusted clipper in a bit different way. |

It kinda crossed my mind to check that also ![]() EDIT: Damn you, Bojcha ![]() But in beta 006 it's worse for sure ![]() |
