SuperH: Done!

Tomorrow morning I'm going to post the latest beta version on the News section of this forum. I have a few minor things left to fix for the real release, but the current version seems to be stable and has no big issues left.

This is the version that I'll post there:
Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... r_BETA.exe
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... r_BETA.exe
VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... l_BETA.dll
VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... NoSSE2.dll
Command line version: Not yet available

(Note: Why tomorrow and not now? Because I forgot to change the version number... So I'm now building exactly these same files with a new version number, tomorrow morning they should be ready and then I'll post the notification).

Hi Hans, nice work on the betas I've been following this thread closely :)

I found a couple of drawing glitches (see attachments) if fixed would make Stereotool 5.00 a sweet number

Hi Russell,

I don't see those on my end... Is it only on these 2 windows?

Yes those are the only 2 windows I notice doing it

I figured it might be because I use 120dpi font resolution, making the font too large and it pushes the widgets off the screen, but I'm not sure

Yes I noticed that 120 DPI font, I'll check later what happens on my end when I increase the font (the odd thing is that it should be identical for all windows, but apparently it's not.)

Ah, that's odd. Apparently different windows are resized differently if you select 120 dpi font resolution. No idea why. I used the same method to correct for it, and for some of the windows that gave wrong results.

As a solution, I'm now checking for which window I have to resize, and now things look good at 120 dpi. Will upload an update in the other thread in a moment.

Remaining TODO list items for version 5.00 (from page 60):
- AM presets: Use Loudness instead of Final Limiter (sounds better); add presets that use BASS BOOST. ■ DONE
- Different Normal Output sound when FM + Stereo is enabled. ■ NO ISSUE
- About box ■ DONE
- Fake Stereo does not work. ■ FIXED
- Change name Pre Limiter to AGC ■ DONE
- AM: Use wider 'hard limit' filter to avoid introducing harmonics. ■ DONE, also improved filtering order (FIRST lowpass, THEN hard limit) and red, uced FM hard limit aggressiveness
- Make "Configure sound card & settings" button blink when end-of-track sounds are removed; this should indicate to users that this happens (and hence hint on the cause of 'hiccups' if the settings are set too tightly) ■ DONE
- Remember window screen position, size, maximized status ■ DONE
- Update SuperH's preset
- Add Bojcha's new preset
- FM presets: Reduce highs clipping to increase clarity of sound. (*) Also make "FM Hot" preset similar to "FM Loud Bass Boost", with pumping. ■ DONE
- Disable Wave display in Bypass mode ■ DONE
- Disable dithering when not needed ■ DONE
- Turn Phase Rotation off when upgrading and not using Final Limiter/Loudness ■ Fixed
- Boris' problem with not displaying sound cards
- Hangups when playing WAV/lossless files ■ Fixed (I think), waiting for feedback
- VST: render issue in WaveLab. Will be difficult to solve... ■ DONE, waiting for feedback
- Fix Stereo Boost meter (stops after few/many minutes/hours of work)
- Increase copyright rate?
- Check SSE version ■ DONE, checked by Bojcha
- What's wrong with the Juli@ in the stand alone version? (Probably not much, other users don't have problems)

(*) - Highs were originally (in version 3.xx) clipped very tightly to protect Loudness. But right now, not using clipping at all seams to sound better than the values I'm using in my own FM presets. So I'm going to increase the clipping levels for the highest bands.

Later:
- Add GATING to compressors (stop increasing volume when the input volume gets below a threshold, reduces pumping and very loud volumes after a period of silence).
- Add Pre-Emphasize for Normal Output (10,15,20,25us), useful for web streaming (?)
- "Do you really want to close ..." message in stand alone version :-)
- Enable separate loading and saving of FM calibration settings. ( viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1370 )
- Linux build (see http://www.winehq.org/docs/winelib-guid ... ng-started )
- Hide waveform display.
- Check Vlevel (foo_dsp_vlevel.dll) plugin, http://vlevel.sourceforge.net/technical/ - DJ-DOGGY claims that this is a much better pre-limiter.
- Stand alone version: Let installer create desktop shortcut
