That's what I meant when I said: the Loudness filter causes about 34 ms extra latency and in the current version that latency is always there. |

Updated again. Sound quality should be slightly better (especially when using Hard Limit on FM transmitters). |

Another update. Bojcha, I have a question. Some time ago you reported that the sound quality degraded when using the FM output signal if Hard Limit was turned on, as if Loudness was set higher than it actually was. I think that might not be the case anymore (or at least far less noticeable). Can you check this with Low Latency turned OFF? Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... _BETA2.exe Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... _BETA2.exe Command line: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... _BETA2.exe CRASHES VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... _BETA2.dll Note: The Loudness filter and Hard Limit are almost converted to the new filtering mechanism that has far less latency, I still need to convert everything else (lowpass, multiband, pre limiter, ...) |

Small addition: Hard Limit is now working in Low Latency mode also, and does not cause any extra latency anymore (neither in normal nor in low latency mode). |

Loudness in LowLatency mode is working great, and seems to have very low latency. Hard Limit not working at all for me, with or without Low Latency mode.. or i am missing something !? Loudness not working in "Low Latency OFF" mode till the 2.20x after that is ok. tryed winamp dsp. |

That's odd, with the latest version Hard Limit should work (it does work here). I'll check it tonight.Hard Limit not working at all for me, with or without Low Latency mode.. or i am missing something !? Loudness not working in "Low Latency OFF" mode till the 2.20x after that is ok. tryed winamp dsp. (Do you get NO sound, or does it just have no effect?) The 2.20 problem still needs to be fixed, so that's correct. |

Hard Limit just have no effect.. In original v4.22, i can turn only hard limit and set preamp to x4 and the sound is limited. |

Ah, I see what you mean - it only works when Loudness is enabled ![]() And some (very) minor peaks are also still present. |

Doink! Those small peaks that are still present are caused by the fact that I always perform a lowpass filter at the end of the processing - but if lowpass filtering is turned off there's a lot of content above the filter frequency, and removing it causes spikes. So, also turn the lowpass filter on when testing the hard limiter (both Loudness and Lowpass must be on). |

Just a small progress report. I've made some further changes to the Loudness filter, and right now when NOT selecting Low Latency it's almost impossible for me to distinguish version 4.22 from the new version. (Even in Low Latency mode the difference is pretty small). I've also merged all the other filters (Noise Gate, Stereo, Stereo Boost, Pre-emphasis, Pre Limiter, Multiband) to the new processing method - but the results are pretty bad so far. For some steps that makes sense - I'll need to do some serious rewriting of the pre limiter and multiband filters. But so far I don't understand why Stereo Image sounds as bad as it does. (I know, it's not the most interesting filter anymore now Stereo Boost is available, but still, I'ld like it to work). The bad news is that I cannot post any (useful) updates until I've fixed ALL of these problems ![]() The good news is that I expect to get a quality that is almost identical to that of version 4.22 with a processing latency of about 68 ms, and lower latencies are possible at the cost of (slightly) decreasing the quality (the last BETA2 had a latency of 34 ms in Low Latency mode, I can probably also add a Very Low Latency mode with 17 ms latency) - and all these latencies can be reduced a bit further with no effect on the quality by increasing the CPU load. |
