Well, it ALLOWS louder highs - meaning that it removes less highs if they get really loud. It doesn't protect the highs against other frequencies. So above a certain setting this filter will have no effect anymore. If you lower it you might notice it (highs get 'smoother', but also softer and less punchy).

Thats the exact opposite of what I hear. Well sound constancy is pretty much the same irrespective of enabling or disabling the Strict On Filter. Just to make sure we are on the same page, Strict On filter gets enabled by checking the tiny Check Box in the right side of the Loudness Section where the newly implemented settings can be found. Am I right?

Well the only case the highs sound better is when I enable this while listening live. Barring that there is little effect.
By the way, ever since the VST plugin stopped working on some other hosts (like Audition), it doesnot render files sampled at 192 KHz. Max it goes till 96 KHz(in Sound Forge and dBpoweramp Music converter.

It shouldn't (well the bass might be dropped slightly sooner, which might have some impact on the highs. But it's not intended for this, and I expect the bass to suffer from it a lot).


Chris and Phoenix:
I really don't get it.
- I measured the difference between BETA50 and BETA51, and get no difference
- I checked the code and there are NO changes between BETA50 and BETA51 except for the new strict filter. So if it's turned off the two should be 100% identical. (And as Phoenix already noticed I don't expect much difference in the highs if you turn it on or off, actually the highs SHOULD be slightly better with it turned on...).
- Bojcha hears no difference
- Yet Chris and Phoenix do


Just to be certain that we're talking about the same versions, and to rule out that you are using another (for example the -micha version) build, could you please do a fresh download of both versions?

Or, again to Chris and Phoenix, could you send me the settings that you're using? (Like I mentioned before, I tested it with FM Loud Europe, and with that there's no effect - at least in the Winamp version)

Phoenix: About 'Allow louder highs': Did it work in BETA50? If so what you're hearing might in fact indicate a memory issue inside Stereo Tool or something like that. THAT could have big effects on the sound, appear in some versions on some PC's while not on other, etc....

How big is the difference anyway?

Versions are totally same exept "stric" (off)

Now..
Is it possible to put "clean-punch" before "Strict" or add another checkbox for that ?

i am telling you this cause you told to set it on 0%. and i test it.

@Hans Dont be confused about the diff... As far as YOU know better than me, from the code side, i trust you and i change to BETA51 on air.! The diff i heard might be from the sound card cause, i test the Betas on 2 diff pc. One plays beta50 and the other beta51. So this slight diff might be on a pc soundcard. Excuse me for all the trouble :)

Not really - Punch needs to work on all frequencies to be really effective (it also impacts the highs a lot!). But I still need to adjust Punch to respond to the new bass processing, and that might help a lot.

I think that 5.02 beta 25 is most common version exept that needs to correct two things . I test "Breakaway Broadcast Processor" everybody can download and test.
I Found :

1.correct the limit filter (i guess "hard limit") or look at the picture. I made a marker where is the problem. This ... might not be in the stereo signal. In the Breakaway broadcast processor this isn`t present.
2.when the HARD LIMIT is ON If there are highs present .. the bass gets low about 2-3 db which causes disbalance to the audio at this moment .Please correct this.

Remember that all corrections are only for BETA 25. If corrections are done
then this version is ready to next release. Thank You. I`m NOT kidding !!
It`s unnecessary to make other options to the sound , here in Bulgaria we call this options SHITnizers . So BETA25 has enough i repeat enough options . Don`t provide more.

I agree that punch need to operate to all freqs.. i am just saying just to be before "Then Rize to"

That error in your mpx tool is not present here with latest beta. There is one beta where that occures (maybe you have exactly that beta) but that's solved in next build...

Highs lowers Bass in some moments: that's true, but not that much and that is not always because ST, sometimes it's because preset!
There is in latest beta protection for highs wich lowers bass, but again, not that much as you said.
