DJ-DOGGY, all processors have a different sound. Compressor A != Compressor B. Just because you have attack and release and ratio on both does not mean both can be configured to produce the same sound. So, naturally, some people will have preferences for one over another. There is nothing wrong with that.

You are happy with your sound, and that's excellent. Others might never be happy unless they have processor X.

It's inflammatory to say something like that without any evidence, yes. Don't rise to it, just ignore it! Your many posts on this forum show you to be someone that knows what they're talking about. The same can't be said for Action, nor indeed for me.

You are right, DJ-DOGGY.
I am big fan of the Optimods, especially the newer, like the 8600 (only my opinion).
And I can tell you that I have the possibility to directly compare the ST with an Orban 8600. The 8600 runs with a preset that satisfies me as well as a couple of in House colleagues including the program director. It was a bit hard cause the direct competition also uses the 8600. It was hard to make a sound with high amount of brilliance, kick- bass (no humming bass) and with all this it should be percieved as less as same loudness as the competitive Station. Note that we have to use BS.412. Nearly weekly I am comparing the Sound coming from the Orban with the Sound coming from ST. The setup is this way, that a copy of the Signal going into the orban is going into ST, and I can switch the monitor source directly between the Outputs of 8600 and ST. To compare the loudness I measure the multiplex power at both outputs. ST is running without declipper, ND, Bass Boost and so on.
What I have to notice is, that it is possible to create a similar Sound - when you see e.g. one song. Next song - different sound. It is in fact hard to reach nearly the same Sound consistency with ST like an Orban. That is the big advance for the Orban. E.G. when you have a song with clipped highs the orban in a nearly magical way compensates for this; even such songs doesn`t sound strained....
Another example is the AGC. At the Orban it runs with a 4:1 ratio and is way more effective than the ST- AGC. Comparing the gain reductions Shows that the gain reduction difference in music vs. dry speech is way bigger at the Orban as in ST, regardless of the Settings like Speeds nd so on. But the bigger difference is that what I Need to let the speech stand out and let the speech reach a bigger loudness, otherwise the listener has to turn up the volume at the Radio to understand the speech. Also when you see that you have to process in preparation for BS.412 the Orban- AGC is a big help, cause dense source material is attenuated further - will not compressed as high as other material...

To understand it right, I like the Sound coming out from ST, it is a great tool. And even on an 8600 I don`t like every detail...
But I see this as a kind of challenge to compare ST with the greatest unit I have ever seen for FM Audio processing.

But - like said - ONLY my opinion.

To automatically assume that someone who has a lot of posts on a forum really knows what they're talking about is a fallacy.

Case in point: The guy has no idea how something that's been around since the 90's sounds like, he has no clue about the inner workings of that specific hardware but regardless of all that he proceeds to make the statement I quoted above. That makes him an ignorant and it would be a waste of my time to explain to him why apples and oranges cannot be compared.

Also i will repeat myself that i never say that Optimods are trash or whatever . But the stupid thing here was that some guy that never participate ST is giving "ignorance" to people that know for what they talking about ! Also i know Optimods doing their best from the 90`s (even earlier!) - don`t worry Action - it`s not only you that have internet, ears and all other to make comparision, alright ?
It`s not only the year of production!!!! The thing is that with ST you can make any type of music to sound like WHATEVER you want !!
try to take some time with it like RobertSack do and you will see that.

Also he didn`t know that i was asked to do some preset(years ago) to sound like Orban from one of the forumers here ! And guess what you stupid ? He was more than impressed ! And just for your info - preset was done with very old ST version - 6.10 ! There was no today`s options .
But you can continue to give ignorance to anyone you want - but as i said !!! you don`t know what other people can and ALREADY done for others.... this is just for your info.

And for all just for info - i was able to play with 8600 for 2 years when i was student !! And perfecty know what it`s able to do
! This is especially to the Stupid action that don`t know what he is talking ! That is why i say it`s nothing that very very very special and will never say bad words for it . Just because i know it !!!!!!!!!!!! WRITE IT down somewhere that i know what 8600 is able to do.
