Hans, Can i make Top Header for you ? :)
I guess I've come to the point where I have to stop looking at Stereo Tool as something where I have to do everything myself :?

Bojcha, earlier I've seen the avatar that you created for - if I recall correctly - Stereo Tool 3 or 4 (?). And that looked completely awesome - I even "stole" the color of the waveform from that avatar. So how can I say no to this offer??? :D

Now the thing is that any new top area design must also match a new site design. I was planning to ask for some advice from some people I know who have designed some very big and popular websites. So maybe it's a good idea to wait for that.

So far all I know is that the new site design must look more professional. But that's actually all I know for now... And that's not much. I don't even know how wide the new site will be... (Probably, as indicated earlier, targeted at a 1024+ width resolution - leaving some space for a scroll bar. I'll have to check what other sites usually do with this). I also don't know yet exactly what I'm going to do with the buttons on top (Home - Download - Donate - ... etc.) - it might be a good idea to include those in the design as well.

So, like I said, it's probably a good idea to wait a bit so I can sort this out first.

Anyway, thanks for the offer - I will very likely come back at this soon.

@ Bojcha

This looks very, very, very good :o :!: :D

Though actually this graphic is relative small it virtually creates the impression (using the 3D perspective) as if Stereo Tool is a big and massive peace of hardware (reminds me of a cuboid mainframe computer).

The only thing:
Reading "Stereo Tool - professional audio processor" there is this little voice in my head that asks: "Why is it necessary to say, that it is professional ?"
Almost every (for sure: many) software publisher use this phrase - so is this really an adjective that helps to convince people to try Stereo Tool ?
And suddenly I had the (weird ?) idea to re-arrange these words:
"Stereo Pro Tool - audio processor"

Though I cannot exclude either that a phrase like "Stereo Pro Tool" would violate an array of protected trademark phrases by Avid (formerly Digidesign) and maybe would lead to severe problems for Hans, because some people (lawyers and judges) might come to the conclusion that something like "Stereo Pro Tool" is too close to "Pro Tools". :? $$.$$$.$$$ :?:

Back to reason:
I especially like the look (and feel !) of the oscilloscope waves.
In this frozen state (in contrast to their instability in real processing) they really look like true waves of water (play  Beach Boys - "Surfin' USA" and you know what I am talking about).
So, yes indeed it looks very good (as first beta version of a central graphic element) !

@ Bojcha: First impression: Looks good!

@ Bojcha, Michi:
Have to agree with Michi about the 'Professional audio processor' - which to me sounds even slightly worse than the current 'Professional audio processing'. The image itself looks good - it's not that much different from the current image (which was made based on a version 3.x which still used default Windows colors and sliders in its main window). But the fade-out to the right really adds something.

Fading to white is also smart: That leaves everything open for the site design (as opposed to the current 'standard Windows colors' site design).

Actually, things like this "Professional audio processing/or" texts are mainly what I hope to get as advice from the people I mentioned - at least one of them is supposed to be an expert in 'making a good first impression' kinda stuff.

Comeon Hans, I got a tooth extracted, it hurts to laugh. These are mere playing around with words and would be more of a marketing gimmick at the end. Very rarely slogans and taglines justify the products.
But then 'entrepreneur' in me suggests something like "Reference Broadcast Audio Processor" (despite knowing there are many forum members using it as a mere sound enhancer). But then your $ fetching customers would be 'broadcasters'!

"Reference Broadcast Audio Processor"
Sounds like a better alternative to "professional audio processor. Its new and still conveys what the program was originally intended for.
It also sounds a lot more pleasing to the ears, I've seen too many DSPs advertise them selves as professional audio processors. :\

@bojcha
The layer styles you used for the text is bothering me, its too much.
A simple 1px border/glow would look more professional.

hey ...

This is not even 'alpha' picture/header .. texts are there just to fill the space ...
Final word is on Hans to say what will be there.
Like i said .. even this color may be not feet to overall site design ..
This is only light pic maked in 3 minutes.

@ Hans ..
Just decide how it should be and, if you want, tell me.
