I'm asking is because I don't want to turn this into tech support with the compressor?
Ah smart. I think it would be reasonable to start a thread about it somewhere that we all stick to with regard to support and testing. At least until the next Beta thread is created. I believe only a few subforums allow the posting of presets and screenshots, so we should probably make it there. So, hmmm... is News a good section even though it wouldn't be an official post if it came from one of us? Or should we just wait for Hans to get one going with a front page that can be updated? |

New BETA: 10.02 BETA098 in the opening post. Main difference is that we added something called the "Intellilimiter", and redesigned the main limiter. Intellilimiter sounds very natural, and is hence a better way to control peaks than a normal limiter. I've added a description at the bottom of the new compressor blog post, https://www.thimeo.com/blog/beta-testin ... ompressor/ |

EDIT: @HVZ Ah okay, seeing Intellilimit now. Is this ready to be tested? I notice 096 was not posted to the main page. I was testing out the Limit/Clipper maximums when I realized it suddenly sounded very different from 095. Should I keep testing this one or wait til the front post is updated?
Oh I hadn't seen this addition before. I just posted a version where the limiter and Intellilimiter can be controlled separately, I think in BETA096 we were using the main limiter thresholds for Intellilimiter. So use 098.Quote:
How should we give feedback on the new adaptive compressor?
I'm not really sure what the best solution is, since changes in the beta's can change how things sound (see MrKlorox' post above). It might be a good idea to create a separate forum post, but let's wait a few days until things are a bit more stable. So for now, just send your description here. Especially because if something turns out to be wrong, it may lead to redesigns which would be posted in this thread anyway.
Should I give my preset and give a song that sounds bad to see what can be done? I'm asking is because I don't want to turn this into tech support with the compressor? |

I've been trying out the adaptive compressor and I'm really liking the impact. I'm looking for the Intellilimiter but I don't see it - where should I be looking?

Quote: We're working on a rewrite of some things and on making the preset loading/saving work the same as in the native GUI. Coming soon. Now in the latest betas since 092 (092 works fine), everything to do with presets doesn't seem to be there for the screen reader I'm using in the web interface, previously it waas just saving/loading that wwas missing, now it's everything. Was that turned off for screen readers by mistake? The web interface has no other changes in the past month or two that I can find. Linux cmd version. |

I'm having trouble finding whether or not I'm using RMS for Intellilimit. How does one swap between peak and RMS modes? If there is an unchecked Peak checkbox, am I to assume it's using RMS? The RMS Size sliders in the Detection tab won't ever show as enabled. Quote:

In 098, it's a slider in the Limit tab. Before, it was a checkbox in the Dynamic Compressor tab.

Just in case it is useful to anyone, here are some sample settings utilizing the new compressor. This is *not* a finished product. But it's most of the way there. Note that I am one of the people who is just using MB1. No AGC, no MB2. As a result, you're going to frequently see the MB meters get pegged. We need a bigger UI range for that as an option now. But we've had other priorities thus far. My expectation is that in the final product, the user will adjust drive until they see the compressor producing about 24-27dB on typical material in most bands. I'm still working on testing gating a little, as well as SDP, so these may change prior to release. Also, note that this was tested for FM use. The full preset is configured accordingly.

Great tip - I found the slider in build 98. Quote:

Changing the Intellilimit slider doesn't appear to do anything. I've tried different levels, enable/disable peak mode. It doesn't appear to do anything? |
