Quote: So, it doesn't matter whether you set the buffer size to 2.7 ms or 5000 ms, the clicks are always the same now?
YesQuote: If so, could you try what happens at buffer size 5000, priority set to NORMAL?
Then clicks are gone.Quote: could you also check what happens at High priority setting instead of Real-time?
Then i get clicks just as on Real-time.

Back from work. Couldn't think of a better way than testing new betas to relax! ![]() First, great work in ST Standalone wrt ASIO. Still checking out as I write this post. I skipped a good 3-4 betas released assuming the last 1 or may be 2 would be BETTER. @Hans, few things that are not really working as per specs: 1.MultiCore - beta31A. I see better load balancing in task manager. Even better if run on a multicore/multiCPU VM(using ASIO wrapper). But then ASIO sound disappears on enabling that. I hear only subtle creaching sound. Even weird- Direct sound at any buffer doesnot work unless MultiCore is ENABLED! Just to make sure this is not the specifically pertaining to my soundcard(Creative X-Fi), I checked it in a VM with ASIO4ALL. Same! In beta30, Multicore doesnot seem like having any effect at all. So everything works fine in that.... ![]() 2.Change of Thread Priority: Now this really needs working. I'll try to make you understand the pattern that I'm observing. Normal and High donot work. Only REALTIME works depending upon whether ST is run using elevated privileges or not. So if I run ST as Admin, it changes to REALTIME in Win 7/Win Vista, else it sets it to HIGH. Now clicking on Normal or High puts it back to the priority at which ST was running just before setting it to REALTIME. So if it was set to Above Normal(using task manager), it reverts to that when clicked on Normal or High from ST Sound Confg Window. What I am really happy is that I am able to set a very low latency (lower than that permitted by Creative proprietary ASIO driver) using ASIO4ALL thanks to the WaveRT port driver. No clicks or pops at 1.5ms buffer and latency of 36 samples for 48 KHz. @Bojcha: Nice preset. Could you improve on the punch a bit more. Sounds a little flat at some places. Was listening to soft-rock...Sailing, Only You etc.. |

Tested it with latency of 2.7ms and version 31A, when set to real-time in task manager i get clicks. - Setting Priority to Normal in Stereo Tool - Then in Task Manager set priority to RealTime. When set to real-time in stereotool clicks are gone. But not after restart is pressed. I think there must be something wrong with the restart thing. Maybe something doesn't get properly initialized or closed or something like that. |

Hi Phoenix, tnx for checking preset. Can you tell me some tracks so can check. As you may now at 512 latency Punch filter is desabled. But anyway should be enough punch in that preset. I would like it to more too, esspecially deeper punch, but currently don't know how to make it for 512. On top of that, first two bands in multiband are 'one'. so there is no control over 40Hz band. |

Hm - I'll have to check what's going on then, maybe I'm still doing something wrong with sound card access...![]() Quote: 2.Change of Thread Priority: Now this really needs working. Ah... The intended behavior is:- Normal and High: Use "default" priority (ie. should have no effect). This was actually intentional; if you set the priority to 'below normal' in task manager, I don't want this setting to set it back to normal again. Similarly, if you have set the priority to Real-time in ST and then set it to 'below normal' in Task Manager, I want it to stay at 'Below normal' when you select 'Normal' again in ST... I guess I should change the name to 'default' or something like that, normal is indeed confusing. - High: This ONLY affects the priority of the processing THREAD, not of the PROCESS. So you won't see any effect in task manager! Still, the processing priority is increased in this case. - Real-time: I know... |

Maybe something doesn't get properly initialized or closed or something like that. Could you try this: - Set Priority to Normal in Stereo Tool. This should lead to NO clicking at buffer size 5000. - Then in Task Manager, stepwise increase the priority. I'd like to know at which setting clicking starts. If I know that I can probably add an extra mode in Stereo Tool. |

512/1024 - Bass Boost have artifacts. Easy to hear with "Play bass only" |

Odd, I'm unable to reproduce this. Could you try what happens if you increase the buffer size (just in case it takes a bit longer for the audio to be 'ready', and it's not ready in time for playback in this case).Quote: Even weird- Direct sound at any buffer doesnot work unless MultiCore is ENABLED!
Oops - I had made some changes after Bojcha reported that Bypass mode didn't work properly - but now I broke normal mode in this situation. I've made some changes, now both ASIO and non-ASIO input and output are independent of whether multi core is selected or not.Fixed version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/radi ... 1-031B.exe |
