One thing thought.... If i stream in mp3 the qaulity is very bad. But if steam in ogg it is much better.

My settings
--sout=#transcode{vcodec=none,acodec=vorb,ab=128,channels=2,samplerate=48000}:std{access=http,mux=ogg,dst=192.168.1.68:8080/}

--sout=#transcode{vcodec=none,acodec=mp3,ab=128,channels=2,samplerate=48000}:std{access=http,mux=raw,dst=192.168.1.68:8080}

and the money maker... Recording. Firstly MP3. Secondly Ogg

IS THIS OK???
Hm, sounds like a very bad MP3 encoder. I don't know what's included in VLC...

Ok, found this link: https://wiki.videolan.org/MP3/
So, bad news :(

Edit: Although I haven't noticed this very bad quality when I tested it earlier... Will have to look into this again. It could have something to do with not matching sample rates and lowpass filter frequency settings in ST.

Thanks HANS. I have this sound problem even if i don't process the sound at all. I haven't used a low pass filter neither a sample rate converter. (thats why my streams are 48Khz). This problem accurs in 44100 hz as well.

EDIT: Some songs are just killed from vlc's mp3 encoder. (especially those with low level instruments and loud voices)

Hello Hans,
I´ve checked again my described issue about the distortion of the DC.
It definitively adds a kind of distortion/Scratching Sound.
This effect becomes way more audible if you increase the "Veil spike elasticity" Parameter.
Can you please try this with my uploaded preset and dry, clean female voice?
Hope you can confirm...
Thank you much in advance!
Kind Regards,
Robert Sack

Another problem. I can't use the stereo tool for MPX generation. It runs fine for 10 second and then stops. I was playing with my test fm trans and then the problem accured. I installed 7.43 but it not fixed the prob...

I need much more info than this! How does it stop? Has it ever worked with another version? How do you generate MPX, and which ST (stand alone, plugin, 32/64 bit, Windows version, sound card)? Is it reproducable? Is it always exactly 10 seconds?

I notice that if turn Off the RDS , there is some little raise of the volume ? When i turn it back ON the volume is back down a little . This is noticeable the most in the high`s freqs. Tested with White noise . Even display of ST is showing this. It`s like the limiter is limiting even more when RDS is on ? Is it the Composite limiter ?

RDS uses about 4.5% of the available modulation. So you would loose about 0.5 dB when you enable it. It should be (as good as) unnoticeable if you use the composite clipper.

I wish you would separate this work. I want all my FM versions to have all this streaming functionality out of it. I wish you would make a streaming version and sell it separately or make it an add on license fee.
Hi Chris,

Why? If you don't install VLC on the same system it isn't even there...
It's just clutter to the interface, in my opinion. On the FM side (and this is US), we are going to have to have a totally separate machine for ad insertion and encoding anyway. I suppose it probably sounds silly to you, but I would just rather the bare amount of code to most efficiently produce the best possible FM product with no regard to streaming.
