Is there a solution to prevent straying of vocals in AGC for large channel separation values other than not using such values?

Thought 5.00 was slow enough. Unless I don't bring the Preamp down (~ 4), the straying is very prominent.
How slow are you talking about?

I guess he thinks not_to_much_drop_volume_with_louder_voices..
I am using lower down speeds in my last presets, since agc is much better in 6.20. Also check "Force Level Below"! I keep that to 800-1000% aka disabled.

I am referring to the shifting of vocals from center (has nothing to do with Phase repairing), which is happening when loud vocals are clipped in AGC in such a way that it is deforms the stereo image. Ideally you'd expect the parameter 'Remove remaining peaks in mono' to take care of that. Well it does but only if the channel separation is very low.
Such low channel separation sounds very dull to say the least. Try comparing the stereo image of a typical FM broadcast with that of StereoTools AGC output with channel separtion set to 0.2~0.3 in Ozone Izotope StereoImage spectrum analyzer.

i didn't know that AGC can do anything to Stereo Image, except L/R balance, but i'll check. It would be good some track example.

@phoenix: A good test track (+ settings) would be very welcome indeed.

@bojcha: What I *think* is happening is the following:
1. One channel gets dropped further than the other
2. Loud peak in the voice is then removed by 'Remove remaining peaks' on one channel, but not the other.
But removing it in mono should completely fix that. So I'm waiting for an example.

A sample test track for your reference. Also includes the settings I initially began with - which I had to alter ever since, because of the vocals straying.
I too feel that either the vocals are dropped asymmetrically or clipped unequally.
The processed track has no such perceptible effects.

Were you able to replicate the issue reported on your systems? Or is the effect not precisely what I described?

Please let me know if you need some more samples. You can try tracks of Enya - just in case you need different sort of exemplification.
