Hi Hans, do you plan to implement some sort of automatic re-equalization to compensate for the (long-term) spectral changes the multiband compressor causes?

I have a feeling that Beta 35 was better on vocals and highs Vs latest Beta37. Anyone confirm?

I already propose to make a hold time much longer ... so we will be able to set the speeds much lower than now... so your time for spectral changes will be shorted much more.

Performance optimization (no significal change in sound).
According to my measurements, the total CPU load of this version with everything enabled is a bit lower than that of version 7.03 when using 5 bands in the new multiband compressor, and equal or maybe very slightly higher when using 6. For 9 bands I now measure a 7-8% increase (was 24%).
Initial testing did reveal measurements similar to what you described. Unfortunately, more in-depth testing revealed an increase.

I took Cobalt, and removed declipper (I have to do that to even be able to play audio). I then changed from "Classic Multiband" to this new multiband. That was the "initial testing". CPU load as viewed by Task Manager stayed in the 70-80 range for both old and new.

Next, I also changed "Classic Singleband" to the new Singleband. Here's where the load increase began to happen. CPU load now fluxuates between 70 and 92-95!

Next, I also got rid of "Bass Boost" and started using the Equalizer. Load is again fluctuating between 72 and now 95-99!

@ Brian

I have an Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (K8) and use no Declipper and no Advanced Clipper (because for non-broadcaster IMO there is really no need for loudness) - so Stereo Tool uses only one core of my CPU (similar to your situation).

IMO the biggest problem (the mother of all evil) for me is the GUI.
With my own preset I have approx. 45 % CPU usage in Windows Task Manager.
But if I only open the preset Menu in Stereo Tool the CPU usage goes to 100 % ! :? :o

So, Brian I agree with you that there is for sure definetly a need of code optimization. :!:

Why you would need more hold ?
imagine this.. Loud High burst like loud S sounds... and hold that attenuation for 1 sec and you'll have big hole.

Or better graphics or driver for it, or even checking IRQs...

It's an AMD 4850 !
No other application produces such sudden (only open the preset menu) CPU hug - it is only Stereo Tool.
