Tested BETA030C with buffer of 2.8ms also clicks when moving the task manager window around. Also on realtime priority. I will test with a higher buffer. Clicks are there even if i don't move the task manager around. Also clicks with buffer of 6 ms and moving window around. Earlier you were talking about: perform all my processing inside the ASIO thread, is it possible to build a version with this? |

Based on the feedback on 601-BETA030C, I'm starting to think that I know what's happening. If you're moving something over the window, the first thing that happens is that the background is erased - replaced by light gray. The odd thing is that this ALWAYS happens - regardless of how busy the PC is... If it's busy it may take a long time before the actual content is displayed again, but the gray stuff always appears immediately. I'm guessing a bit here, bit it seems that Windows decides to always do this at a very high priority. I'm now catching and ignoring ANY GUI update messages that get sent to the window, including the WM_ERASEBKGND message. This means that the window isn't visible anymore (but if you move something over it, you'll see where it is because what moved over it isn't cleaned up anymore). ** GOOD NEWS ** Previously, when moving something over my window, I say the CPU load go up a lot. That's now not the case anymore! So, as far as window GUI updates are concerned, this is as dead as I can make it: http://www.stereotool.com/download/radi ... TA030D.exe If the clicking is gone with this version, then at least I know what the cause is. If it's not gone, I will be completely lost. |

That would require a lot of changes in the code, days, maybe even weeks of work. And no guarantee that it would be any better - you have already reported getting clicks even with a buffer of 5000 ms, which means that in that case the clicks were in fact caused in the ASIO thread... So i'd like to prevent having to move in that direction Earlier you were talking about: perform all my processing inside the ASIO thread, is it possible to build a version with this? ![]() |

Problem is not ONLY ST window. Actually That problem should not be a problem IF it's minimized. Problem is something else too. When i open other window, refresh desktop, browsing internet.. etc. I done another test.. I put some filest to compress in mp3 using both cores to 100%. Then start ST. Normal mode cannon work at all. But in Hugh priority things are much better, but as i said some pops and clicks are there when i move any window, refreshing desktop.. etc.. Let see b30d... |

ANY window? Ok... I thought before you said it was only when moving something over the ST window...Problem is something else too. But in Hugh priority things are much better, but as i said some pops and clicks are there when i move any window, refreshing desktop.. etc.. Let see b30d... If it's ANY window, maybe setting the windows time slice to 1 ms instead of 15 ms will reduce the problem a lot. |

So this isn't true then? Quote: Quote: - What about: Window minimized, minimum update speed, but opening/closing other windows, refreshing desktop etc?
All good ! no clicks. (priority "high") |

Well, a version with decreased time slices then (1 ms instead of the default of 16 ms): http://www.stereotool.com/download/radi ... TA030E.exe My expectation (hope...) is that you may need to set the buffer size about 1-2 ms higher than the minimum value to get rid of the clicks and pops in this version. It would really be a lot easier if I would be able to reproduce the same issue on my end... |

Tested BETA030E with buffer of 6ms and set to realtime still clicks. Especially when resizing screens. Let's say resizing the task manager. I'll do some more testing. Edit: It also happens with buffer of 10ms and especially when resizing the task manager from down to up and down again. But also some clicks when having just the task manager maximized. Edit: Did the same with granularity of 512 and set to normal or realtime with buffer of 10 ms. I noticed a click again. |
