Bojcha .. try Run DMC - it`s like that ... Or Wu tang- Radioactive .. both songs have deep bass that causes to increase this effect . Also set your bandpass (highpass section to begin from 30 hz ) and you will see for what i`m talking about. The first band here is 40hz , so put the monitor option and listen different songs. You will see how bad is. Also why all the new MB options values are on every beta different step and causes different value step at all ?! |

well.. Here how looks 46Hz boosted with some Q - http://i.imgur.com/OBEo1f4.png And here how looks in ST - (best i can) - http://i.imgur.com/mEAUWmT.png Main difference is that in ST is still too much boosted area under 46Hz... 0Hz should be still 0dB |

Hans, you put two sliders for multiply the att and rel speeds .... Why don`t you put another next to them for multiply the hold ? |

re: bass boost removal because "bass shape" in loudness is better How exactly would that be of benefit for those who do not use loudness, or who used to, but can't anymore due to the processing demands becoming MUCH greater? There's some EXTREME tunnel vision going on around here, not to mention an utter refusal to take into consideration hobbyists and/or people on low-end systems. I get that the desire is for more commercial usage and more income, but is removing functionality for hobbyists and/or people with low-end systems really the way to get there??? |

Quote: Quote: Quote: PS. bass boost, no longer needed, with the equalizer, much better results and no artifacts.
It doesn't do the same thing as the equalizer - but I think the Bass Shape section in the clipper does a much better job than Bass Boost, so it might indeed be a candidate for removal.I tried to advanced clipper - bass shape, no good result, rather well with eq. (see photo) http://i.imgur.com/d115g9C.gif @Brian: If you don't use the clipper, is there any advantage of using Bass Boost over the eq? There might be some if you use cheap speakers, not sure about that, that's why I'm asking. But I won't remove it right away - if anything it would be marked 'Deprecated' for a while; if I just remove it existing presets wouldn't sound good anymore. I already wrote that I would look into the performance issues with the new multiband - before I added that there was even a significant reduction in CPU load! Edit: I might have just found a rather big performance improvement opportunity. Will have to test if it has any effect on the audio though (the output WILL change, slightly). It looks like there's one small loop (only 5 lines long) that is responsible for over 1/3rd of the total CPU usage of the compressor. But I really need to test this to make sure that optimizing it will have no bad effect on the audio (it definitely WILL have a large effect, I just hope it won't be noticeable). |

To be honest, I hadn't been trying any of the new stuff. I don't think you're even fully sure the direction you're going with respect to some things, so I'm basically just waiting for things to settle down more before attempting to test anything. Even when I do test something though, it won't be with the same vigor as before. Just being open and honest.I guess my fundamental underlying issue is that I firmly believe that there is absolutely no way the CPU load will be the same or less than before. In the past, when I've had a gut feeling like what I have right now, I'm right a lot more often than I'm wrong. The only way to change that direction, in my opinion, is to start looking more in-depth into the compiler and doing more profiling. As for the loop, yes, loop elimination or loop unrolling could help, and that was one of the things I was going to try to talk to you about, but the discussion with me has gone cold, much like the discussion on the Intel forum. There was a question there about whether you had done something with or without the Max macro to help with vectorization (??? vague memory... too tired to go look). You haven't replied there in weeks. People have offered help, but it has just gone by the wayside. I'll get some sleep tonight, and then I'll poke around with the equalizer tomorrow... |

Channel separation in compressor1 is not working (always fully stereo). Threshold slider in compressor1, wrong hold move and wrong keybord move. |
