sorry, but i don't hear any difference. i recorded old and new version to be sure an listen again. i only have antention to highs.
Which song and using which settings? I've tried FM Europe, FM Europe Loud and Bojcha's Balkan preset using "sejo1" and "elma1", and in some I can hear a tiny amount of distortion (but much less than before, and a LOT less than in version 3.55). I think I can get rid of that last bit of distortion as well, but at the cost of a less stable bass sound which might be more annoying then the distortion.

But please give me your settings and the track where you're hearing it - it's also possible that I have to calibrate the settings a bit further (to me, they seem ok for the songs and settings that I mentioned, but other songs may require different settings).

Yeah I suppose I should add version numbers or something again... On the other hand, I think this should be more or less the final version for 4.03 - the sound has improved so I'll just release it, probably tomorrow.

@ Bojcha

Breakaway ?

I call it Octimax V2 (Bojcha meant it sounds worse - no doubt).
Ok, too harsh, sorry.

I do confess I have used (sometimes) Breakaway before I finally found Stereo Tool.
I still use Leif Claesson's MasterMuxer (a very simple text file based freeware DSP stacker).

Bojcha, it would be a great help if you could write what settings/presets
you use with Stereo Tool and Breakaway.
I am sure, that you have already written it - somewhere in this thread ???
But I am too lazy to search every page.

So, please do it again, that all (newbies too) can understand about what you
and Hans are talking about in detail and have the ability to build these
configurations for their own tests (with your files).

@ Hans

And I too vote (again) for a name with special build version info.
Though:
It might have the disadvantage, that people who don't read here cannot download it.
Now it is always the same download link - so no doubt - it is always your newest beta version.
Maybe two files ?
So only an extra version with build version in name ?
That way everbody gets the newest beta.

For testing i always use preset FM Europe and 101% FM Volume.. and FM Output to mpxtool.

i found one minor bug in ST, it's nothing about audio.
If Stereo Tool is open and then you switch to any other window and you want to back to ST using Alt+Tab .. there is no icon of Stereo Tool in menu. Icon is simple cmd. it will be nice to see icon of ST there.

That's odd... That should be handled by Windows (I only tell the compiler "here's my icon", and I don't do anything else...).

Icon is working now.

I have also cleaned up the code a bit and the sound might be very very slightly better.
And the latency in Low Latency mode is reduced by about 170 ms if both Loudness and Final Limiter are turned on.
The Clean / Punch slider can now be set to higher values than before (with the improved distortion filter, there's less distortion so I've increased the range a bit). I can't say that I really hear a lot of difference if I set it higher though (but if I compare the sounds in an audio editor, there is a lot of difference in the signal).

Version number is updated to 4.03, I'll release it tomorrow.
