Not same!
No more that good bass-clip, like in beta36/37/38.. :(
Quote:
It does do something - even if there's just a little sound on the highs the clipping is dropped to the 'clip at' level.
I see.. but that should not work like this!?
If "Clip at" is at 90% and desired freqs adjusted, Level of that freqs should not never cross that level (like in beta38), AND if there is loud highs to drop "Clip at" at nedded level, 85, 80% or more (5-10% lows drop should be enough - for highs), depend on how high is that peek.

EDIT:
Testing b39.. Actually this is good direction.. Works just as should so far.
but small addon:
- Max Bass "Clip at Level" - Actually another same Clip settings like in beta 38 (current is 100% - To strictly clip at desired level, e.g. 90-95%) and if possible to be last filter (after punch..?)
- a bit faster release
- this same thing for mids like it's for high

That "mina" song ...
This is like 1 song in 100 that will have lower bass, so, if that is solution to remove distortion, then it's not problem If other 99 tracks are good.

Bojcha: I'll freeze what I have now (it's better than the BETA39 version because it better preserves the bass).

However, I think I can do a lot better by detecting voice vibrations instead of just reacting on the audio level. I've done some more tests and I think I can - instead of what I have now - add a slider with which you can set the maximum allowed vibration level. Higher = more bass, lower = less bass :-)

And - after thinking a bit more - I just discovered that it shouldn't be too difficult to implement.

Edit: I now have a filter that outputs a waveform that for the most important higher frequency in the input signal predicts for each sample how much audio will be removed. And the worst 'voice vibrations' are clearly visible here! This should enable me to reduce the bass only where needed. Will continue tomorrow...

SOS SOS!

In the standalone version of stereotool i noticed that there is no AUTOMATIC RESTART DAEMON ...of stereotool ..in case it crashes
( breakAway has an auto restart daemon in case ....just just just in case...it crashes :) )

THIS IS VEEEEEEEEEERY IMPORTANT !

STEREOTOOL crashed one time on my test pc after some hours ..and stayed .crashed :(

Can you make something like that in the next version ? this automation ..saves lifes!

to do :
1) automatic restart daemon in case stool standalone crashes SOSOSOSOSOOS SOS!
2) SCA outputs..

p.s.
Maiby Stereotool standalone crashed becuse of ....timezone ( today the time changed here ) ?!?!!?!??! ??!?!

Calm yourself !

First I thought you were traveling with RMS Titanic and have just seen the iceberg with your own eyes.
More haste, less speed !
Don't panic !
 drink some uszos and relax !

Dude, this server has never crashed any program ,
stereotool crashed ( not all the system, just stereotool )

and i have 2 explanations :

1st cause ( maiby ) today morning the time was changed in my country's timezone ( we went 1 hour back )
2nd cause ( maiby ) ...something else happent to stereotool ! ( i am using both mpx and left right outputs , one for FM and one for streaming )

the uptime of stereotool standalone was 6 or 7 days

( soundcard : realtek onboard 192 khz , i dont know if the soundcard has any reason )

its true when stereo tool does crash I have to force to close it, and that means going into the task manager and ending the process.
unless that's just n my computer. it does not crash all that often but when it does it locks.

( but other than that not problems here )

DUB<^>STEP: Are you also talking about the stand alone version?

If only the stand alone version suffers from crashes it's probably the sound card access that causes it. (And most likely if the buffers are getting empty?) Question to both of you: Are you using ASIO or non-ASIO? (I expect non-ASIO, in the ASIO version buffers cannot get empty, and everything is handled by the ASIO software).

not using ASIO

i am using realtek high definition onboard audio card ( the latest chipset )
it has the cleanest MPX output i ve ever seen !

( if anyone uses ESI Julia with windows vista or 7 ...stop using it.. it's drivers are 100% buggy for long lasting playback )

Realtek drivers are ok but stereotool crashes after some days!!

Please make an auto restart daemon and also find the cause that makes stereotool crash after some days of continus playback.

Breakaway had 144 days of uptime for me with realtek soundcard . ( power outage caused shut down.. :) :)
..

it's very simple,.
an auto restart daemon!!
and a bugfix for empty buffers !?!

Don't you use Juli@ and Digital output to DDS exciter? - btw, any news from Sigmacom ? 8-)

I used Realtek 889B before i put Juli@, wich is the best realtek chip ever. Both realtek and juli@ never crached! Realtek with non-asio and Juli@ with asio.
Many have problems with ANY software, and i just think that problem is in Windows setup and hardware choice!

This realtek is really good chip .. but Juli@ is so much better.
Do you remember the term "Tilt"? It's much used at bbp forum. Well... if nothing.. Juli@ have much better tilt then realtek.

Vista and Win7 - I'll never use it for Transmitter and stream PC, and i don't see any reason why i need to use it.
We have 8 PCs in Studio and 4 at 2 transmitters and 2 at stream.... Only XP is there.

If someone is interest i can upload my special version of XP.. it's only ~180MB.
----------

btw.. Hans, any news ?
Yesterday i discovered that when bandpass is used as "Never phase linear" there is much les voice vibrations/distortions
