The big difference though is that VERY loud bass sounds now cause bass distortion, not distortion of the rest of the sound (try setting the equalizer values for the bass above 3.0 and you'll hear the difference).

This should make it possible to increase the bass level further than before because bass distortion is FAR less annoying than high frequency distortion - and you need to make the bass really loud before it gets annoying.

I'm curious about your opinion about the rest of the sound: Is the rest (not bass) of the sound still cleaner than in version 4.10? (I think it is, and it definitely is if I increase the bass level using the equalizer.)

it's little hard to me to test winamp plugin .. but i do some test anyway.

When i use some default preset .. (FM Europe) .. the difference between org4.10 and basslimiter2 are very small, on new version is meybe even better for other sounds. That is good!
Difference is shown when huge bass comes .. or i pump bass in EQ, or in treshold...
Then, bass limiter do the job.
I think that limiter needs just a bit to relise more lows. I'll wait standalone version and configurable settings for this.

Ok, I'll create a stand alone version with configurable settings asap.

By "I think that limiter needs just a bit to relise (?) more lows.", do you mean that it should limit at a higher bass level? That might be possible since the higher frequencies sound better than before...

In the new version I'll also make the FREQUENCY where filtering stops configurable, that might also make it possible to increase the maximum bass level further.

Note that the bass limiter cannot be increased much more than it is now. It currently limits at 87% of the maximum level, the maximum increment would be about 12% - approximately 1 dB. The old version (original 4.10) limited at 73%.

Does this mean then that you're getting less bass with the basslimited_2 version than with the original 4.10? Or do you want more bass because it now seems possible?

The intention was to increase the bass level.....

Got it. For music with normal bass levels (rock etc.) the difference between the two versions - using the same settings - is almost non-existent.

With dance tracks with pounding bass the new version - again using the same settings - is about 0.5 dB softer (FM Europe preset).

Note that in the new version you can get more bass by just increasing the bass levels in the equalizer. In previous versions that caused distortion, but that is no longer the case.

I have some ideas that might help, but they are far more easy to test if I make them configurable first - so that's what I'm going to do now.

Oops! I made a calculation error... The bass wasn't filtered at 87% but at 68%   which makes quite a big difference. And it's indeed 0.5 dB lower than in the previous version.

Configurable version:
Winamp version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... urable.dll
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/radio_tool_SA.exe

TO INCREASE THE BASS LEVEL:
There are 2 sliders:
- One that sets the FREQUENCY.
If you set it to a LOWER frequency, LESS signal will be there, hence less filtering will take place, and the bass level will go up.
- One that sets the FILTER LEVEL.
Set it to a higher percentage for more bass. You'll get more distortion when you do.

About the FREQUENCY slider: If you set it TOO low you'll get distortion again. On the other hand, it should be set as low as possible BEFORE the 2nd slider can reliably be configured.
The current Frequency slider setting of 150 Hz (the current setting) is just some random number I though might work well, so changing it might be very useful.

Note that you can also use the equalizer settings to increase the bass level, with very little extra distortion. (But it will also be a bit less punchy).
