Yes, unfortunately it is still happening. Instead of trying to explain clearly, I have instead recorded a video of my screen (no fancy screen recording, just recorded my computer screen with my mobile phone. Don't mind the audio, just my wife watching tv in the background).
Here you can see, that when I crash ST with the TEST ERROR button, and press ok on the following popup, ST crashes and re-opens as it should. However, after 14 seconds, it crashes and re-opens again.
I'm glad that you did, because I probably wouldn't have believed it if you had just told me  . I still don't get it at all - the program does not know that it has been restarted and that a crash has occurred, so it should behave exactly the same as when it was started the first time. Can you check your C:\temp\Stereo_Tool_Exceptions_log.txt file to see if it contains any extra messages that were not shown in the interface? (That shouldn't be possible either but I really don't know what's happening).

One question: The restarting, does that keep happening, or does it restart twice and then just continue?

This happened when the Normal Output/VLC crash happened. Now, when the Normal Output/VLC crash has been fixed, I can of course not reproduce this error to explain more to you, sorry!
Hey, if it doesn't happen anymore it's ok right?

For some reason, I don't have a C:\temp folder! Don't know why. Running Windows 7, 64-bit. Hidden/system files and folders is shown.

It restarts twice and then continues without issues.

Yes, the issue related to VLC is okay now :)

You can just create the directory, run ST and press the TEST button, and the file should be written...

I created the C:\temp folder - and for some reason, ST doesn't "double-crash" anymore now... Don't know if this is related in any way to the creation of the temp folder. ST still doesn't double crash even if I delete the C:\temp folder again.

Hm... Well I cannot get it to crash twice here either, so I'm going to leave it like this now (especially since you say that after restarting twice it runs ok again).

I'm going to build the current version, if everything is ok I'll release it by the end of this weekend - there are some important fixes in it.

Nelson, are you sure tgat there is no other message? Cannot open sound card for example. And do yoy know what colors the sound card buffers had?
There was no other message besides this(Timeout Detected: Sound card input or output did not respond.).
If I remember correctly the color bar buffer disappeared.
At dawn, I'll be performing the checks and pay more attention.

Sorry for my English.
I think I figured out what's wrong. I just got the same message a few times. And, the cause is that the buffer size is 5 seconds, and that also seems to be the time after which a timeout gets detected (it should have been more - this is wrong). So, it detects a timeout and keeps restarting the sound cards.

It's still a bit scary that it causes things to stop working completely on your system... But anyway, this should be easy enough to fix.

To confirm this, can you test if it works fine if you set the buffer to - say - 3 seconds?

Edit: Something weird is happening with timing - and not on all systems. The timeout is programmed at 10 seconds but it detects it at 5 now. And similarly, the crash window should be displayed 10 seconds and in the video that EliasKrause just posted it only displays for 5. And the same is now happening on my system (but it wasn't before, when I had the display refresh rate set higher).

I was assuming that when sleeping 5 ms in a loop, each iteration should be AT LEAST 5 ms apart, but apparently that's not the case - it was on Windows XP though... (and works fine there too).

Edit: Looked up the documentation about Sleep, and it turns out that it does NOT behave exactly as I have thought (for many years). This one is not too difficult to fix, fortunately.

It's good that you found the error. :)
Fortunately it does what you say.

-With 3 second buffer, the problem disappears.
-The output buffer is exhausted every 5 seconds and this error. (using 5 second buffer)
-The problem appears when this option enabled "to restart soundcards detected a problem."

Yes it seems okay now! However, I have noticed something. When a factory preset is chosen, the following v7.43-features gets disabled:
- Auto-start with Windows
- Detect and attempt to fix sound card/VLC timeouts
- Restart on crashes or unsolvable sound card timeouts

Is this optimal?

That site is currently showing an error :( will try again later. I will probably need your .ini file to reproduce this though, so if you could send it to me (in a PM) that would be great...

It's usually located in C:\Users\<username> (Win Vista/7/8) or C:\Documents and Settings\<username> in WinXP.

EDIT: Never mind! I just had that same error myself here and I've already fixed it. Will be ok in 002.
