Ah ok. I can divide the response speed by 2, that would reduce those a lot at the cost of loosing a small (tiny) amount of volume.

If it'll be better, great!
i'll always use Composite limiter as maximum as possible but without this. :)

The level of artifacts is more than 70 dB below the audio level, so it should not be noticeable at all - far more than the signal/noise ratio you'll get during normal reception. And it affects frequencies above 15 kHz, which most people can hardly hear anyway. So I wouldn't worry about it too much. Still, it would be better if it's not there.

Edit: Hm, effect on audio volume is MUCH smaller than I had expected (less than 0.01 dB!). I'll just need to check if the sound is still good, if so I might even reduce it another step.

Building now! Artifacts level is ~ 10 dB lower (I've reduced the speed by a factor 4, which still seems to have nearly no effect on the output).

So you could also set the Composite Limiter higher now.

Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 510-27.exe
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 510-27.exe
VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 510-27.dll
VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 510-27.dll
Command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 510-27.exe
Linux command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... BETA510-27 (Build error - server was offline)

Measured at Composite Limiter setting 105%, the difference in output volume with the previous version is less than 0.01 dB. Artifacts are about 10 dB lower.

Awesome!!
Composite clipper works better then ever!
Is it possible with hard limit to do same?

Not really! Hard Limit ALSO switches from normal (~ 44.1/48 kHz) processing to 4* upsampled (~ 176.4/192 kHz) processing, which makes limiting a lot harder. Mainly for highs.

However, SOMETHING like this might be possible - I'll do a check tomorrow. But don't expect too much - I have already implemented (that was the recent 'Hard Limit' improvement) that the volume doesn't come up too fast after a bigger volume drop, so it's probably already responding slow enough.

Sorry, I am too lazy to follow every detail of your discussion, because you know I am not into FM (and even not interested in loudness).

My question:
So using presets without FM and without loudness, is there any (noticeable) sound difference between latest Beta 27 and Beta 19 ?

And (before I try it and it crashes again):
Any changes to the VST version ?
Or any idea how to solve the incompatibility problems, yet ?

No, should be only difference when higher sample rates is used (176,4/192kHz)
For non-fm usage 48kHz is recommended. 44.1 should be good too.

For me Main update from 5.02 (for non-fm) is multiband's 'flat frequency responce' and agc.

Hans, where is this ever going to end? :-)

A maybe stupid request. As I really like a high average volume would it be possible to add a 2 band comp limiter after the multiband?
Soundsolution and MBL4 used to do this I believe and you could get some nice results out of it.
I remember a radiostation (radio Contact) that used the famous DBX compressors with the 1 slider (pump pump pump)
Some guy created equalizer things for it so it was kind of a multiband with different compressors (hahahah phase and linearity)
You could raise the volume of the lows so with every beat the rest would duck a bit, really funny. But for dance and 90's it actually sounded .. different.
