I've heard it now too in some tracks. Sounds pretty bad. The old version sounded better.

I'll upload a version tonight that sounds better than the previous BETA, but it's definitely not the final version. I'll have to check what I can do to improve the sound, without loosing the louder highs. (And it might not be possible to have both).

BETA has been uploaded again. Should have more bass than BETA2, but less distortion. I will fine-tune the processing tomorrow.

Hans, maybe easier to make a link in your post signature where to find the beta's. We are at page 23 now and growing

I think I've solved the distortion problem. In fact for the few track that I found where I could clearly hear bass distortion, they seem to sound better now than in all the previous versions. The bass level is still higher than in previous versions, although not as high as in the version with the distortion.

Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... r_BETA.exe
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... r_BETA.exe
Command line: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... d_BETA.exe
VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... l_BETA.dll

Note: If you hear annoying artifacts in the sound, please tell me the name of the song and the settings you used. That will help me to quickly determine what's wrong.

Edit: I just noticed that I can now increase the "Allow louder lows" slider quite a lot before I start hearing distortion... Feedback on the optimal setting of this slider is also welcome! (I'm leaning towards 2000 or so).

That's the version that had a lot of distortion.

You can use the "Allow louder lows" slider in the Loudness panel to increase the bass level. In my first tests it seems to sound ok up to about +4000. This may also depend on your Loudness setting.

hmmm .... only loudness enabled (2.30) with help final limiter (strong red small show), fm outpu...till +3000 is good.. and clean... but now i see when i turn multiband .. thing gets very strange ... and some how "in think" bass make highs to have distortion...

edit:
nope. .. it's good. and it's good to have room for bass in loudnes section.

Uhm, I'm a bit confused now... If you increase the bass in the Loudness section, you can get distortion - it is set to '0' for a reason (although I had the impression that slightly higher values still sound good).

Basically, what this does is: It lowers the bass level below a certain level such that there will be no (or little) distortion caused at other frequencies. Setting it to a higher value does not mean that the bass is boosted, but that louder peak levels are allowed.
