I'm not sure if as many people using Windows may wander into this thread and try it based on the title. Might consider changing the title of the thread. |

Used the dsp (win) version 009, didn't test it full, only changing and saving Multiband settings, running two days without troubles. |

Thanks for testing! I've now rewritten a lot of the sound card code (asio and WinMM), and simplified it a lot. Found several bugs in the process, among others one that AlexL pointed me at: The low latency output didn't have a low enough latency. That should be fixed in the next beta. I will open a new thread for that (without Linux in the title, good idea!) There's also something else wrong with low latency audio: Sometimes it sounds good and sometimes it sounds really bad. Will try to find out what's wrong with that tomorrow (this was an already existing problem). |

Ok, I'm posting the new version here for any 'early testers'. I will run some more tests in my office tomorrow (don't have an ASIO-enabled sound card here at home); this afternoon the ASIO version seemed fine but I made some changes afterwards - don't expect any problems but there might be. If everything is fine tomorrow I'll open a new thread. Most important changes: - Low latency works properly with ASIO now; latency should be lower - Changes to one output (for example FM) don't cause a restart of all the other outputs anymore. Same for empty buffers: Only the output that's affected is restarted. BETA 724-010 Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 24-010.exe Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 24-010.exe VST: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 24-010.dll A lot of code has been changed so there's a good chance that I introduced new bugs... |

- When i start standalone with bypass mode ON, there - no sound. No asio was used, so normal input/output. Switching bypass OFF and ON gives sound back. - I see phase shaping works again - Something with asio is wrong. I have constant stuttering (like i need more latency). Setting to more buffer size do nothing. Turning off composite removes stuttering so i really need more buffer size. So it seems more cpu usage or asio problem. |

There's definitely something wrong both with ASIO and without... On my test system with a Juli@ here I cannot even open an ASIO connection (I could yesterday so I apparently broke something yesterday evening). And WMM audio works fine on my laptop but on the Juli@ system I can open the input OR the output but not both. EDIT: Hm, I apparently installed the wrong version - now it works. I see that the ASIO buffer filling is way too low, that must be the cause of the hiccups (that I'm hearing as well). Will check why. Edit: Fixed some other issues (ASIO wasn't restarted when the buffer sizes changed). ASIO behavior is now correct about 50% of the time, wrong otherwise. Still searching... |

I found that with both Breakaway ASIO and ST, running at 512 block size...I would describe the audio as extremely, or at least, highly fatiguing to these ears (gives me a headache, in fact, like a ratty sounding mp3). However, ST sounds pristine at high block size/full quality. I do believe when I tested an earlier version, about 7.11, I could not use ASIO as an output, was forced to use WDM. Not presenting that as a fact, just a belief. |

Changing block size should not change sound in any way. |

Except if you mean the latency setting in Stereo Tool! ASIO is kinda working now, except that when I turn if off and then on again the buffer filling is reduced a bit each time (actually I just saw that that also happens in the old version! But I want to fix it now). Except for that it looks more stable now than with previous versions. Low latency also working very well now. (Not talking about the sound yet, just the ASIO I/O latency). Edit: Ah! This has something to do with the moment at which ASIO processing starts and ASIO block sizes etc. And it got really bad because on my test system the ASIO block size was set to 1024 samples, at sample rate 44100. So, ASIO should be good. Will post a new version in a few moments. |

BETA 724-011 Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 24-011.exe VST: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 24-011.dll - ASIO behavior should be correct now. - Sound card errors are displayed in the buffer bars |
