Yes in SSB mode more and most energy is near to carrier but overall RF spectrum is not wider - is less. I can make print screen from real RF spectrum analyser ![]() Multipath clipper below 45% makes RF spectrum better ![]() |

If you have so..... Make them to see the diff But i think this way : if a station uses RDS , signal at 57 khz is there , so overall spectrum is extended to 60 khz on both sides. And if we use SSB , only one side is used , but the RDS signal is still there and overall signal is still to 60 khz . So in my opinion when we use SSB , we must turn off RDS and then we will have the narrowest band for transmitting, and so the best reception on bigger distances from transmitter ( low carrier signal ). But for best signal we must use the whole standart for FM - which is double side band ( full Complex Stereo Signal ) |

Yes RDS is always same but level is very small and difference on/off is not visible with music etc.. Hans, your teory is about this region? this is effect 40% multipath clipper ![]() |

Please make a shot for classic complex signal without miltipath or Composite clipper SSB etc....only classic with hard limit and advanced clipper ON (1.00x) |

Stokkemask clipper *seems* ok now (a real scope would be really handy to make sure). I also found that SSB is not ok at Quality settings < 100%. Will check that, and then I'll release it as version 7.21. |

I played with the ITU-R BS.1770 buttons and found out that they react to the detection style i.e. peak vs RMS. Why is that? This loudness measure uses neither of both, right? Or is just the frequency weighting used, if so, which one for head and bass? What settings are needed to get full compliance? |

O you're right, I meant a spectrum analyzer. I've learned something new about code optimization tonight ![]() SSB code and lower Quality settings are working fine now, trying to improve performance of Stokkemask clipper now (on my system it causes a huge CPU load increase, from 17 to 25%). Edit: Now 17 to 22%. Still a lot, but I don't think I can reduce it much further. Edit: 21% Edit: 20.5% Edit: 19.5% Will run a build now. |

Mainly bug fixes for version 7.20 and a new stokkemask clipper: Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 21-001.exe Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 21-001.exe VST: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 21-001.dll (not available). - Fixed several bugs in the composite clipper that caused issues at lower quality settings, especially when using SSB mode - Fixed a multi-threading bug in SSB mode, I don't understand why it didn't show up in version 7.20 (I never noticed anything strange there) but I clearly saw it when testing things with this version. - Rewrote composite clipping version of the Stokkemask filter (Netherlands only - although others might use it as well, it makes the RF spectrum less wide thus protecting other stations from disturbances). Note: Tomorrow I will add a less CPU intensive Stokkemask filter, since the current one really increases the CPU load. I can make one that's less 'precise' but also takes only about 1/4th of the processing power. Note 2: I have no spectrum analyzer, so I cannot properly test Stokkemask compliance. The tests that I did perform seem to indicate compliance (and without the filter, clearly noncompliance). Given the fact that almost no other processor even supports Stokkemask and that even some companies that are big in radio in the Netherlands don't seem to know the difference between 75 kHz modulation and Stokkemask - I don't know how often I've heard that if you're within 75 kHz modulation you're also complying to Stokkemask), I'm assuming that this is ok, unless I'm told otherwise. |

Why would anybody need it then? I think it is RF wideness, mostly present with wide stereo piano sounds.
