Oops! I posted the wrong links in my last update. I've just replaced them... (Should be BETA502-A instead of BETA502-9). |

Not sure about this one. I'm using an external library to perform some (CPU intensive) calculations. Previously, I included all the versions: Generic, Pentium 4, Pentium 4 Hyperthreading, Core Due, Core Duo Penryn. I did some tests on my own PC (quad core), and to my surprise the different versions all perform nearly identical (Generic is 3 times slower, the difference between the others is below 1%, and surprisingly Pentium 4 is the fastest!). So in this version I've dropped everything except Pentium 4 support (Generic for the Pentium 3 version). The executable size is MUCH lower now (about a 30% reduction), memory usage is a bit lower (~ 800 kB) and the installer is of course also smaller. Of course I cannot check the performance on every single system, so if anyone experiences a performance drop (or increase!) with this version, please let me know! Quote: Setup file is ridiculous low
It could be even lower if I would remove the Pentium 3 version. The current installer contains 2 Stereo Tool versions - Pentium 3 and Pentium 4...

Improved Pentium 3 support I have an interesting update coming up: The Pentium 3 version of Stereo Tool is now 67% faster! On my Quad Core PC it's now processing 155 seconds of audio per minute, that was 92 seconds before, both measured using the FM Loud Bass Europe preset. I still need to measure it on an actual P3 but the difference should be very similar. This should make using Stereo Tool on older hardware much more feasible than before. No change for the P4+ version, which processes 182 seconds per minute on my PC (so it uses 1/3rd of a single core) using the same preset... The difference between the versions is that the P3 version uses SSE instructions, while the P4+ version uses the more powerful SSE2 instructions. (The external library that I was using for some heavy calculations didn't support the P3 (SSE) anymore, there was only a much slower 'generic' (any CPU, non-SSE/MMX/...) version available. I've now downloaded an older version of the same library which did have SSE (P3) support and I'm compiling the P3 version of Stereo Tool with that older version. By the way, to my *big* surprise, the latest version of this library has now also dropped SSE2 and SSE3 - anything below a Core Duo isn't supported anymore - that is, it still runs, but without optimal performance). |

And here it is: Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... A502-C.exe Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... A502-C.exe VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... A502-C.dll VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... A502-C.dll Command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... A502-C.exe As I mentioned earlier, P4+ has NOT changed at all (in fact, the files are completely identical). I still need to test these on an actual P3... |

Same CPU load on my c2d.. 'maybe' 1% less. |

Tested on an E6600 and not feel any difference. Went always perfect ... At one time I will build a new pc "air chain" and had intended to use an AMD Sempron 140 with integrated Realtek sound card 888. As Stereo Tool compatibility with AMD? |
