Hans ,, I would be gradefull if u could make a very simple "tweak " for the RDS code of ST standalone.

Is it possible to NOT BROADCAST the PI CODE on RDS ?
( for exaple, if i leave the PI code blank ( now it is not possible , i know )

But, can you make this case ? If leave the PI CODE blank , to NOT broadcast PI CODE at all!

( In many cities, in many Countries , PI CODEs are like a meeeesss!!!!!!! , many stations have the same pi codes , e.t.c. )
( If i change my PI CODE ...then the competitive radiostation changes it again to take listeners from me on another location!! ) i am sick of it!

please :(
The RDS standard doesn't enable that :-(
When I broadcast the PS text, I have to include a 16-bit number in it - leaving it empty would just mean broadcasting a PI code of 0 which would not help at all.

According to the standard, you should use FFFF in this case - but it depends on your receiver if it will still switch to other stations or not. And if everyone who only has a single frequency uses FFFF you can imagine the mess that that would cause.

Actually, if you send only your own frequency as AF (Alternative Frequency), radios should NOT switch to other frequencies. Again, this depends on the radio.

Too bad for the standart :)

As you said , it depends on the radio reciever :(

I ve seen some recievers that get realy confused when 2 stations have the same PI CODE , even if on AF frequency ..specify their frequency.. :(

Radio recievers firmwares are LIKE A MESS !!!!!!
( that's why in Athens and Thessaloniki cities , in Greece WE DISABLE OUR RDS BROADCASTS !! )

Hans !!
keep up the good work!!

PI Code for RDS MUST exist!
What i guess you do is that you tryed to change it many times (?) which is wrong!
There is plenty combinations for RDS PI code so one you choose stick on it!! if you change it, 'many' car receivers (who saved your station) will not hear you anymore!

Chances that will someone choose same PI code in your area is very thin!

Normally the PI codes should be regulated. The first section, lets say 01 to 40 in decimal, should be reserved for gouvernment owned stations.
I've also had issues before that someone had the same PI code and without even having an alternative freq that matched one of our transmitters the car radios switched over when the other station was alot stronger.
If you want to be sure that this doesn't happen you can also use another country code.

It bothers me that even in Greece which is part of the EU it still isn't regulated. That should be the first step before tackling corruption.
Maybe you can set your country code to Turkey? :P

This is simple man....
just keep the PI code to FFFF and no problem with it .

@ Hans

Will you remove the Natural Dynamics code completely before the final 6.20 release version (or whatever the numbers will be - ST V7 ?) ?
I hope that it will still be accessible via (manually edited) STS presets !

No need to remove it I guess. I will remove it in the future (AFTER version 6.20) - I'm not too satisfied with the current behavior and I want to make something better. But if it's really better you probably won't have a problem with it :-) .

It's 16 bits: 8 for country code + 8 for station code. Indeed if I recall correctly anything that ends with FF should be ignored.
