... this sound is processed by stereotool .... auch Hans, how many times a minute does that one come up ![]() Been testing the latest 007 build and all seems fine with the peaks at 4096. |

Oops - fixed! I had to reduce the time to test if it still worked, but I forgot to restore the original timing.

- Seem all ok again now - btw, what's default settings for "steepness" in multiband for 4096? I think that sound is sligtly better with more then 0.25 (4096) |

Great! I'll adjust the 'steepness' calculation in the next BETA to allow bigger steepness changes when less artifacts are present.- btw, what's default settings for "steepness" in multiband for 4096? I think that sound is sligtly better with more then 0.25 (4096) By the way: Phase rotation with 20 sample latency and no artifacts is working! So that's going to be in the next BETA as well. Unfortunately it has some effects on the frequency content - so I first need to add an extra filter to compensate for that. |

BETA601-008: - Improved Phase rotation for latencies 512 and 1024. - Changed Multiband 'steepness' behavior (as Bojcha requested). For low latency, behavior should be nearly the same. Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 01-008.exe Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 01-008.exe VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 01-008.dll VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 01-008.dll Command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 01-008.exe Linux command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... ETA601-008 [not available] Linux GUI version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... ETA601-008 [not available] I have replaced the existing phase rotation filter by a completely different implementation for latencies 512 and 1024 (at 2048 and 4096 there seem to be no artifacts from it; the new one is guaranteed artifact free, but it uses more CPU processing power and has some volume level effects). By default, the new filter causes an extra latency of 20 samples (0.45 ms). I've added sliders that allow increasing or decreasing this value; doing so won't cause artifacts, but it will cause the volume variations at different frequency ranges to get smaller or bigger. If audio is playing, 'Volume effect: 0.00 dB' displays the maximum effect on the audio - so you can see immediately how much effect a change in these sliders has on the audio. In case you wonder: Quote: By the way: Phase rotation with 20 sample latency and no artifacts is working! So that's going to be in the next BETA as well. Unfortunately it has some effects on the frequency content - so I first need to add an extra filter to compensate for that.
Fixing it also caused artifacts, so I figured that having some volume variations (~ 1 dB) is better than having artifacts.

New beta [008] sounds better than old beta. Listening to BBC's essential mixes. ~192kb/s Higher steepness values ftw! |

BETA601-009: - Reduced FM latency. No further changes. Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 01-009.exe Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 01-009.exe VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 01-009.dll VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 01-009.dll Command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 01-009.exe Linux command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... ETA601-009 [not available] Linux GUI version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... ETA601-009 [not available] I haven't really tested this version yet - I just managed to get it working and it's already really late. But my first short tests look good. I combined the FM upsampling with the upsampling step for which I removed the latency a few BETA's back. So now the total latency is (based on 32, 44.1 or 48 kHz input): - Phase rotation latency (20 samples by default), for 512 and 1024 sample latency versions - The processing latency: 512, 1024, 2048 or 4096 samples - FM Composite Limiter latency: 192 samples (!!!) - I guess I should look into this one! (128 for upsampling, 64 for volume drops before spikes). - FM Transmitter Calibration latency: 2048 samples @ 4096 latency, 512 samples at others. TOTAL FM latency assuming no FM Transmitter Calibration: - 512: 20 + 512 + 192 = 724 (16.5 ms) - 1024: 20 + 1024 + 192 = 1236 (28.0 ms) - 2048: 2048 + 192 = 2240 (50.8 ms) - 4096: 4096 + 192 = 4288 (97.2 ms) 4.35 ms of this is caused by the composite limiter, I think I can reduce that a bit with little effect on the end result. |

Thanks! Maybe I should set them even higher then. I'll look into it.

Just noticed: In the new BETA, if FM output + Composite Limiter is enabled, the output bars flash in red. This is probably not really a problem, but I'm not sure yet... Will check what's causing it tomorrow. |
