Quote: Quote: @Hans - Whenever you have a chance, can you look at the Noise Gate code for any performance issues / improvements?
Hm, I just tried and I'm getting 27% without noise gate (everything else turned on), 29% with noise gate.To give you an idea what I'm seeing, and yes, it is more than just a number seen: Azimuth ON Stereo Boost (90s) ON AGC ON (3-band, combine, head correction) Multiband ON (clipping and EQ enabled) Bass Boost ON Bandpass ON (auto) Singleband limit ON Phase Rotator ON Final Limit ON Hard Limit ON CPU load with all that with Beta099 is 5-15% Enable Noise Gate in addition to that (still no Loudness), CPU load goes up to 30-40%. With Loudness, I'm up into the 60s again... Disable Noise Gate, leaving loudness on, and it drops back into the 30s-40s... It may be that's just the best that it can be, but I remember saying that you didn't look at / use Noise Gate all that much... This might be a memory usage issue again, or a Task Manager issue. Could you try the following: Instead of switching Noise Gate on and off, keep it on but switch Multiband on and off. My expectation is that you'll see exactly the same behavior. (In Stereo Boost 90s - do you have 'Protect against excessive reverb' enabled? If not you might get a very diferent behavior due to some optimizations that I'm using.) So, cache misses or other lack of L2 / memory bandwidth? |

@ Hans beta99A - Did you take into account pre-emphasis when FM is used. Maybe that 'tricks' protection for highs? |

Hm no, that should not make any difference. It just means that the clipper receives more high frequency content.beta99A - Did you take into account pre-emphasis when FM is used. Maybe that 'tricks' protection for highs? The real issue is with low frequency filtering and (relatively) small window sizes. Is the punch in 99A any better? |

No. Much same as beta99.Quote: The real issue is with low frequency filtering and (relatively) small window sizes.
Don't know what's problem .. but when protection is active it kills that nice bass punching, on top of that makes bass to sound not just few % lower but to sound worse. This is not only for this betas. This is from always .. atleast last two betas are bit better. That bass should be pushed down just on level domen. So spliting Loudnes to 2-bands should be much easier for control. Band1 mix-out to 95% as default, protection controls that same Mix-Out. Punch i preserved just few % lower. That should bring much lower cpu usage.. etc... But you already said that cannot be done in current code.... |

Guys .... Are You talk about the "blop blop" sound with 400 Hz issue .. because i saw Bojcha to say HPF . You must know that this is caused by an input or output interface . I think that because 3-4 days ago test it and no effects turned ON just use ST to take the sound through as "Source direct" if you know this option in Sony amps. This problem is there That`s why i think that the problem is in the interfaces ... also may check in the upsample block |

So... Then this is - again - better than in older BETA's and version 6.10? In that case I'm going to leave it for now...I actually had some things built in in v6.10 and upto BETA091 to reduce this issue - but from what you're saying apparently that didn't work. |

Is 'Advanced Highs Protection' currently functional? |

No. Do you still need it?
