Update is available. Still BETA instead of BETA2, because I don't know what's wrong with that song that Bojcha talked about... [links removed - no longer valid. Please use the BETA2's again] |

oh Hans.. i was aviod this .. because type of songs that in my radio plays is not standard pop, rock, dance... we call it folk. ![]() i'll give you one and maybe you'll understand why i think that this prelimiter works much much much better. Watch differences between channels (version with only left new channel). Attention to voice. link |

In the original, was the voice in the center? If so, the difference is much bigger than I expected...

the song is well maximized (original rip from cd) Early Pre limiter did't know that the voice is much higher (stronger) ... now knows. |

Update (w.r.t. previous BETA2): - Pre-limiter uses RMS volume instead of peak level volume. - Added an extra filter after the pre-limiter that removes remaining loud peaks (usually at the start of a new track after some silence). This extra filter can be turned off in the "Pre Limiter" window. I have put the level slightly higher than in the last "BETA" because it was sometimes filtering peaks that should not be removed. - All the new settings are saved to disk now in the stand alone and the Winamp version. VST version will follow asap. - Final limiter in Limiting & Loudness window works fine now when the main window is minimized. BETA2 again this time, here are the links again: Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... _BETA2.exe Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... _BETA2.exe Command line: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... _BETA2.exe VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... _BETA2.dll Bojcha: Quote:
edit:
I've made a short recording with a few seconds sound on the left, and a few seconds on the right. Final limiter seems fine in both the main and Limiting & Loudness window. Could you re-check this? (Something might have changed in the last few versions, but I don't think it did...)
heh .. found another bug with final-limiter VUmeter on main window. Left channel is left but right is and left and right. |

Does it remain that way if you have audio right channel only for a few seconds? This output responds slowly because it shows the average level of the last 1-2 seconds. |

Minor update. You may have noticed that the new filter that removes remaining loud peaks in the pre limiter caused some "bouncing" effect (volume goes down - up - down - up very rapidly at the start of a new track after some silence). That should be solved in this new version. Also, the filter that I'm using for a.o. FM Volume Overdrive and the pre final limiter should sound slightly better (more constant, less 'pumping') now. Don't expect a big change - those filters were only doing something when there was a problem with the sound in the first place. But especially the start of tracks should sound better with this update. |

Would it be possible to make the window with the Pre Amp and Post Amp in the same style as the screen updates window? I think it would make it a bit more nicer in that way. |
