Hm, as you can see the lower order highpass filter is much closer to the phase linear filter. So that's what you ask for, right? (something in between: Less phase effect, but also less steep filtering).

Increasing the ripple (which is still very small, a few % now) increases the steepness without increasing phase effects. So that's good.

True. But the old implementation used order 9 - so ANY other setting should be better (in terms of phase changes etc.) than that.

Would it help to know that most of the bass issues I was having were addressed by other changes in the betas? I don't really hear much of any difference with the new highpass vs. the old, but giving configurability to it should be a good thing, I would think...

Anyway, I haven't tried to analyze the signal, but what I was hearing, I don't hear anymore. Either you had improved something, or my hearing has gotten worse... ;)

What's the point here is that i found some track are meking voice and other distortions at non-phase HPF, and some track are makeing disatortion in Phase-linear HPF.
What i was think is that something in the middle will make it good for most tracks.
Nooooo... That's not how it works.

Basically, the non-phase linear highpass filter introduces a phase shift (just like the 'Phase Rotation' filter). And that works better for some than for others.

I should add though that I did hear some weird effects at the border frequency in older versions which seems to be completely gone now, so I think the new version is (slightly) better. But this does not - or at least not in a reliable way - change the voice vibrations.

BETA620-017:
No interesting changes. Just changed the version number to 6.20 and re-enabled the full screen mode in the DSP plugin version. This is the version I'll take to the Sound Processing Freak Day...

BOJCHA, you were talking about a new really different preset. If you have something good, even if it's not completely finished yet, please tell me now!

Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 20-017.exe

TODO:
- Fix loading changed multiband frequencies
- Add buffer and filter for SCA output (SCA1 ok, SCA2 ok)
- Finish AGC improvement - make mono value configurable (replace checkbox by slider) 1 hour --> NO, not needed - anything else needed? -> NO
- Fix Punch
- Check what to do with new filters (such as bass AGC) - keep them, remove them, change them? --> KEEP
- Save new BASS_AGC setting in VST mode
- Loudness: Annoying cracking sound in bass. Slightly present in 5.00, worse in 6.00, maybe even worse in 6.10. Only when bass is too loud. Much worse than in Final Limiter (at same input level!) - so this clearly indicates a bug. Most likely cause: The filter that was added to remove bass artifacts....... - No, it's the louder bass. But it can be fixed by changing some settings. Default settings updated, and behavior for 'not Very strict' improved. Also Deep bass boost and Very deep bass protection are enabled for latency 512 now.
- Update presets? (BASS_AGC etc.)
- Change version number 1 hour
- Release 1 hour

I skipped some beta's but i think the bass distortion is indeed much better now.
I don't see Stereo Tool in the schedule of the Soundprocessing Freakday, see you there, maybe.

Hans => the "gui " of the vst version (last versions 6.20 beta) doesn't run on my vst host , but run good with the 6.10

edit; run good too with the vst_stereo_tool_BETA620-009.dll but not with the beta620-016 and beta-017

The gui window on the vst version does run on vsthost up to beta 6.20-011 . Versions 12 and up just display a blank white window.
